Jake, Thank You for forwarding this! I know Our Youth instructor, and His 2 sons are going. I suspect that more of the team will go too, now that I see that the SCTP is going to be part of the Grand Pacific. I would like to see Our local team, make this Their big event. As it is, They are going to the state 4-H tournament this year for the first time. I feel that this tournament, is pretty much of a joke. They have to qualify for each event, So basically a kid practices all year, "to qualify", and then gets to go to a tournament, and shoot a whopping 25-50 targets! Worse yet, They do not consider trap handicap, as an event, but do consider 5-stand, as a, "shotgun event". Since there are no 5-stand courses on the coast, They have the kids shoot trap doubles, as a qualifier. What a great way to burn up a lot of shells and targets, trying to teach 9-10 year olds to shoot trap doubles, with a Mossberg 500 pump! Then to dump gasoline on the fire, it turns out to be a real bummer, for the kids that do not qualify. The professor in charge of managing this doesn't know much about managing a shooting tournament for kids IMHO. Anyway, good to see this event come about, as I feel it is what is needed out here in the West. Some of the kids on the local team have already joined PITA, and shot in Our little tournament in February, and plan on shooting the next one in May. This will be a great positive next step! J. Webb.
