I read Don Cogan's thoughts regarding the BOD's ability to continue to make decisions throughout the year given today's technology and I'm in full agreement. Over the last few years I've continued to be troubled by the ATA leaderships inability to implement changes business leaders would consider necessary to run an competent organization. I was troubled by the ATA's large investment in an information technology group that seemed expensive and incompetent. Today's technology offers a tremendous advantage to those competent enough to engage in the future but the ATA always appears unable to grasp the need. When they made an attempt they got overcharged and short changed on the product they received. Either we have uninformed individuals at the top or we have a situation where one gets to the top of the mountain by basically doing little to upset the norm and eventfully receives the desired shotgun. Computers and programs are a tremendous asset that should used daily by the ATA and member clubs but it's not happening.
I've asked this same question many times over the last few years! When that system was put in place, it was tough enough to even call someone on the phone back then! Today, you can make decisions daily instead of waiting an entire year to include the Delegates input! Antiquated at best, EC is in total control the same way it was in the 20s. Can you imagine attempting to run a business today relying on one yearly meeting to get your marching orders? The loss of small gun clubs all across our country should be ringing an alarm bell but all we have is silence? As long as we have all the Grand's and Zone shoots, who cares? HAP
Oh Crap, here we go again. I've been in trouble along with WPT, Flyers, Trap2 and others for some time but now it looks like Hap is headed for double secret probation at a minimum but probably it'll be triple secret probation as he was seen talking to known agitators in Tucson. A good shot who gets along with everyone and expressed a modicum of intelligence. That's a bad combination in the eyes of some ATA mucky mucks. Let's keep our fingers crossed Hap survives.
I hope Hap can evade the bad guys and survive long enough for me to take him on a bird hunt! I'm sure during the course of a good morning hunt we could discuss and find solutions to all the worlds problems. Well maybe not ALL the problems, but it sure would be an enjoyable walk!
Thanks Don!! I love a good bird hunt, even some of my most memorable forays in the uplands were just watching my dog do his/her thing!! You and I would have an enjoyable time while trying to fix some of the worlds problems! I don't attempt evading anyone that happens to be a trap shooter, regardless of any differences of opinion we may have regarding my beloved sport! Past Presidents, EC members are included, if they want to chat with me, I'm game to discuss ideas that may actually improve my sport! Should any such discussions turn toward me following any path that reminds me of what the Republican party is attempting to do these days makes me sick and I cut it short!! I've never been a believer in a good ol boys club nor a follower of any such nonsense, life's way too short and it's a bad practice for all involved! I also know I can't change anyone's mind unless we actually discuss our ideas in an attempt to come to the best conclusion for our sport! I have changed a few minds, realized that some will never change, regardless of consequences, but I never stop trying. Besides, our sports history is on my side of my arguments? HAP
I am on Super Supreme probation. Yours in Sport Gary Bryant......................................Dr.longshot
Hap, If you ever do hunt with Don, and he offers to bring his friend Scott along, don't fall for it. They are like 2 eucher partners that have played together for 40 years! We call them the "Brittany Brothers"!
