For argument's sake I'm going to say that the ATA may very well hold a shoot in Sparta this August (I don't see how it is going to happen though, but it could.) So the ATA holds a grand, but I don't see the vendor's coming back, how many shooters will show up? The SCTP was the prize (economic) for Illinois. Do any of you really think they will go back to the Farm after they've seen Paris (the CC)? The worst thing that can happen to the ATA and the Sparta area is to have a party and no one show up. There is no way this year's grand (if it happens) will be larger than last years, or the year before that or the year before that. Not holding a grand this year would be better for the ATA and the Sparta area than holding a half assed one. I see no evidence that vendors are flocking to the ATA, IDNR holy site. Illinois is an anti gun state that was the only game in town when the 10 year vendor leases were first issued. Since then, nothing that was promised in that lease has been proven true. The ATA membership has gotten smaller and gotten older AND the Cardinal Center was built. Now with Skeet and rifle/pistol shooting along with the clays and trap (also a pit) what the dreamers who built the Sparta place envisioned it to be, a one stop place for all the shooting sports has happened at the CC. Just in a lot better location. The ATA is giving away more ribbons, has more All American Teams and yet have fewer clubs shooting fewer registered targets. I can tell you, that by working for Beretta for all those years, these facts are not missed on the firearms industry, none of them. The name THE GRAND has been so diminished in the Industry over the last decade that it means nothing. Just like Trump's rise has been missed by the Republican establishment the Grand's importance has been overstated by the Sparta supporters to what it means in modern day target shooting. The reason they have missed it for both are the same, the old guard wanting to hold onto their importance and their piece of the action (money) and ignoring the members and voters. The SCTP shoot at the CC already has more vendor and Industry support than last year at Sparta, that will only continue to grow by the way. The Camp grounds filled up in less than a week, the SCTP is going to make money on the shoot, they aren't going to be charged for every little thing. Jack and the CC staff are going all out to show the Kids, their families, and the coaches that they want them and want them to have a good time. Not that they just want their money (which is what the ATA has always done to kids) but really want them. Personally I'm not investing anymore of my time or energy into thinking or talking about Sparta, the Kool aid drinkers, Hunter44, Greentitian, bigdon, pipelayer, the idiots on the EC, the wannabes like Paladin, or anything ATA. I DON'T CARE. I will though be happy to talk SCTP, HOF history of trap shooting and such, it's just my time is too valuable to me to talk about a dying and corrupt organization that I was once proud to be a member of. I'll also be happy to answer how to questions when asked, but no PM's as I don't do them. If you're coming to the SCTP shoot or the challenge shoot look me up, I'll be there. Brad Dysinger
One thing I would like to know is what are wheelchair shooters treated as fourth class shooters. Normally I just go and shoot but I was struck when reading the program for the Tucson Spring Grand that there were no trophies awarded for wheelchair shooters till the last 3 events. Now I expect someone to say there are not that many but there were more wheelchair shooters in the Preliminary week @ the Tucson Satellite Grand than there were Junior shooters. While the number of shooters can be a reason at smaller shoots but not at a State or a Satellite Grand. Also the ATA is missing an opportunity to increase their member numbers by bringing in more Chair shooters. One it's therapeutic and two it allows the chair bound individual to participate in an outdoors sport where their current condition prevents such participation in other outdoor sports. Plus it gives the individual back some of their independence.
Brad, nice cast. Remember to reel slowly so you don't pull the hook out of the mouth. Must be a slow day at the club today?
Mr. Johnson's post from last October. 8 months after this site was supposed to be belly up. "No need to worry any way all my posts will some how be gone in a couple of hours???????? someone here doesnt like me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" 5 months later and you are still here posting? Somebody get this guy an AmericanTrapshooters.com T shirt.
And another one from that same month. "OK go ahead and delete my post as you have all the others i have posted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I see you have 13-14 post still here so just how many did get deleted? Or did one of the mods just miss them? Remember, Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't after you.
It's illegal to fish with dynamite! You have to gently let the fly lay out in front of fish. Only when he rises to inhale the delicate morsel do you tighten up the line. It's all about presentation Brad. Use a little foreplay for goodness sake! See ya this weekend.
Don do you think there is any chance in hell that the SCTP is going back to Sparta after this year at the CC? That ship has sailed. I can't wait for the shoot to get here this July. I am really looking forward to being around all those kids and their families. One thing about kids they have fun and don't bitch like old ATA shooters do, and you know that IS the truth. I've had a bunch of Ohio shooters ask if we need help, so I know the OSTA and the Ohio shooters are looking forward to showing off the Cardinal Center too. I don't know what the SCTP wants us to do in particular yet, but the boys are working hard and keeping me informed with the goings on about everyday. Jake said something about setting up a panoramic camera on a post that would run all the time to show how the construction of the skeet fields are coming along. He also said a drone was going to fly over the construction at the end of the month and they'd be posting the pictures on here. Fun Times. We'll see you and Dallas this weekend, Brad
We can all tell. Nice to see you migrate from the worn out joint. Best of luck Brad, Luke and Jake with the new plans at the CC. Great to see Mr. Johnson drop by to wish you well also. lol
How would I know if you are what you called yourself? I never ask anyone about their religion. Roman Catholic, Presbyterian, Baptist, whatever you are, you are. That is your choice. If you decided that is how you wanted to go through life I would never tell ................ OOPS! I thought you said Mormon. If you want to be known as a Moron, well then so be it. BTW, you can be SURE that the post in which you called yourself a Moron will never be deleted. That is just too damn funny to be erased.
nice try pigeon shooter. hope it never gets deleted. remember the old saying sticks and stones. but an asshole is always an asshole
Geez......this guy is a real Johnson. Reminds me of 2 years ago. Need a filter here. Too many morons. lol
Nice try at what? YOU told us all you were a MORON. I never said it. You were whining that your posts had been deleted. I asked how many. And YOU called yourself a MORON. Hell, I don't have to "try" anything. I couldn't make this stuff up.
I'm sitting here thinking, MAYBE the guy IS a Mormon and was trying to type that when he got a little ahead of himself and his fingers were faster than his brain. It happens. If that is the case it is even FUNNIER. I can picture Mr. Johnson, sitting at his computer banging his head off the keypad, and yelling out loud, HOW COULD I BE SO STUPID TO NOT CHECK MY SPELLING? NOW I DO LOOK LIKE A MORON. And then I said I hope it never gets deleted! God Almighty, why did I ever go on that damn site in the first place. I just wanted to take a few pokes at people and it blew up in my face.
Ya know, that last sentence you typed does kinda fit right in with my post above doesn't it? I have to thank you for that one. Work was one big headache today and you calling yourself a MORON was just about the funniest thing I have EVER read on here.
Now, Steve Johnson, don't beat yourself up too bad over that little typo, if it was a typo. It COULD have been worse. Think about it for a second. You COULD have called yourself an asshole. THAT would have been the funniest thing I ever read on here. Calling yourself a MORON doesn't sound so bad now, does it?
I wonder if he will go back to that old worn out site and tell the 4 stooges what he typed. I can hear it now, each one of them standing up from their keyboards, trying to protect one of the flock. I'M A MORON NO, I'M A MORON NO, I'M A MORON. NO, I AM THE MORON. Like I said, you can't make this stuff up.
Only took about 30 seconds for me to think of the things I typed. I don't know how long it took for other guy to come up with calling himself a moron.
So now you want to play the race card. I never mentioned someone's skin color. I hate when someone uses either the N word OR calling someone whitey. I don't think the mods would let anyone use.......... What? Oh,my bad
Being called an asshole never really bothered me. Then one day my mother called me an asshole. That was the day I new I had accomplished something.
If thats the way he sees himself and wants to promote himself in that image he must be right in his assessment of himself. Who should we be to disagree? Dave Berlet
Why the state's stealth budget crisis is real Eric ZornContact ReporterChange of Subject Illinois Senate Democrats recently estimated that, due to judicial decrees and other "agreements and arrangements" among elected officials, 89.4 percent of the state's usual bills are being covered even without the formal appropriations of an operating budget. Judge tosses request to find Rauner administration in contempt on payments Most of the calamitous effects of slashed funding to not-for-profit agencies in the outstanding 10.6 percent that rely on state funding to serve some of our most vulnerable citizens have, so far, been largely hypothetical. The state has been paying them money still owed from the last fiscal year. Most higher-education institutions, also left in the lurch, have so far been able to minimize the impact of state funding shortfalls by moving money around. Accordingly, the howls of outrage have been muted. Demands that our lawmakers strike a compromise spending deal lack the urgency even to keep them in session nonstop. It was actually big news last week that the Illinois Lottery is postponing payouts to winners of more than $25,000 — not exactly a heart-tugging story. What budget crisis? This budget crisis: Due to all these analgesic deals and decrees, Illinois is now spending at roughly the old rate while taking in tax revenue at the new, lower rate. Illinois' budget impasse is having a big impact This puts the state in the same situation it was earlier this year when the Democrat-controlled General Assembly allowed income-tax rates to fall 25 percent on New Year's Day even though the Democrats' spending plan through June assumed a continuation of the higher rates. Lawmakers and Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner were mostly able to patch that estimated $1.6 billion hole with one-time fixes and other legerdemain. But the hole is opening again. Estimates are that Illinois is on pace to spend about $38 billion in this fiscal year and take in only $33 billion. So every day that goes by, the budget cuts and tax increases that will ultimately be required to bring the books into balance, as the state constitution requires, are becoming more severe. "There are no long-term savings as a result of this budget impasse," said Laurence Msall, president of the Civic Federation, a nonpartisan budget watchdog organization. "We're spending enormous amounts of money that we don't have, and the longer it goes on, the more painful the legislature's remaining options become." Democratic state Sen. Daniel Biss of Evanston described current state spending as "an insane patchwork quilt of incomprehensible nonsense" that no one in government seems truly to have a handle on and that will require increasingly painful measures to address. Republicans don't disagree: "Each and every day that passes without a budget is another day in the wrong direction," said Rep. Ron Sandack, R-Downers Grove, on WTTW-Ch. 11 Monday night. It leads to "more fiscal chaos and financial insecurity." This hurts everyone, not just the poor, the sick and otherwise distressed who will be first to feel the stings now that program money is drying up. It hurts employers. It hurts employees. It hurts students. It hurts the elderly. I will not go on. And it underscores the need for Rauner to focus squarely on taxes and spending. It requires him to set aside for later his anti-union agenda and other items on his wish list and negotiate an agreement to prevent us from quietly but inevitably falling deeper and deeper into the hole that all sides have conspired to create. What budget crisis? Now you know. WPT (YAC) ... All the news , all the time ... If it happens we are on top of it ...
