Does this mean there will be a telephonic grand now? Tough to keep up here. ATA says all is a go and IDNR says there is not even practice scheduled.

The CC said no to the ATA. Dont want the problems associated with those guys? So now what?

They are trying to fill days on the calendar to prove that its worth while keeping it up and running ... They only have 361 more days to go if they are going to be operational every day ...Last year they utilized the facility 123 days out of 365 (generated $1.1 million ) and the State lost money (1.9 million), which will not happen again being as the State is separating itself from any financial liability (loss ) from now on ... The State agreed to the $3.00 per entry based on an over estimated (exagerated)(sp) number the ATA expected the new facility (WSRC) to produce which it never has ... The ATA lost many shooters by making the move to Sparta and anticipated making them up by all of the new shooters they were going to get from the local and region in and about the general area ... I got a feeling no body anticipated it taking over 10 years before they would be moving in a "Fantastic Direction" and then the State stopped the progress by shuttering the facility on them and all of the Organizations who had dates on the schedule after the date it was shut down , so actually its the States fault this all happened or didn't happen as planned once they got it rolling ... Now, they have to start all over again and build up the momentum to get it headed in a "Fanasstastic Direction" generating millions and millions of dollars in the local and regional economy ... I see where approx 20 people have sent in their money for a camp spot and at least one vendor is ready to go , so things are moving right along ... The Glock shoot is just the start, they probably got a wedding reception or two lined up to cover another day or two ... If they are not going to do anything until after April, they already lost the first 4 months of the year to generate 4 or 5 million to the local and regional economy ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

It takes awhile to build a business , some never get built ...

They hold lots of events there yearly, but the Illinois budget experts on this site don't know that, it's only trapshooting.

 

OK Duff as you are the expert on the WSRC. And obviously you know more than Monica the person in charge.

Tell us what the next event is that is not on the schedule. Or do you think Monica knows more than you?

First of all, where did I write that I know the schedule of events. Secondly, just because the full schedule for this year hasn't been announced, doesn't mean they won't be held. If you want an idea, look at last years.

Thirdly, it's impossible to educate such a narrow minded person.

Anyone can go to the WSRC web site and check out the calendar of events, last year the facility was used , as in utilized 123 days ( I added them up, all my toes and fingers 6 times plus 3 = 123 ) out of a possible 365 of the calendar year ... This is a total taking all of the different venues that shot events at the WSRC , not just trapshooting ... I have tried several times to see the agenda and schedule of events for 2016 and nothing has been posted as of yet other than what Monica has made public on this forum (this is exclusive to this forum by the way) and not posted otherwise ... The total use generated $1.1 million dollars, compared to the $3 million dollars the State claims is needed to break even to maintain the facility which added to the State deficit another $1.9 million dollars ... The WSRC was slated for $154,000 (and change) in repairs that are needed outside the scope of being maintained some of which are stated as safety issues though they have not been identified, but have been reported as such and are part of record ... The facility is ageing and going to need remedial efforts to keep it operational as things just wear out from use ... This problem will no doubt continue into the future so cost estimates will gradually or rapidly increase as time goes by ... The things do not fix them self so the problem will mount more year after year and the vicious circle of ageing will be a big part of the facility from now on ... The State is obviously not in a position to spend massive amounts of money that they do not have to keep the place a first class facility , that is another problem Kemosabie, (Tonto said to the Lone Ranger ) ... Get out the Rose colored glasses and watch this one LeRoy, its not going to be pretty ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

Why Duff are they going to be the same? That seems to conflict with the statement from the IDNR and the state so far doesn't it? But you know all about the schedule. Monica don't know squat.

Wpt, I agree with you. That being said, the lack of use by more shooting disciplines was being discussed at the time of the budget fiasco, so they powers that be know what they are up against.

My point was, there is always a calendar of events, as you have looked into and verified, but most of the posters, such as Butterly, just assume the only things going on the whole year this year, are the two events publicly posted, thus far, and still think the Grand isn't going to be held there.

They can't figure out what this means:

The only way I know that the WSRC will make money, and cover all associated costs, is to hold more events of any and all disciplines and other outdoor activities as it was designed to do. Trapshooting is only a relatively small part in the the whole years activities, as you have found out, but in the current climate, every where, all types of outdoors people and the different shooting disciplines need to stand together, in order for them all to succeed.

But alas, most posters here just want the WSRC to be a failure, and that's that.

Now, if you want to compare this little state park to say the federal park system, they have a billion dollar maintenance backlog, imagine that.

That's the point Duff. You don't know anything about the schedule cause not even the IDNR knows anything about the schedule. Yet you rant about knowing this shoot and that shoot will be happening. Thus far the only two events that will happen are the 2 events posted. No shoots have been scheduled as far as trapshooting. Not even the grand has been scheduled with the IDNR. (not that a bunch care)

As per Monica there is not even a practice time set.

No schedule exists for a specific venue for the U.S. Open.

There is no budget agreement. There have been no negotiations. As per Gipson legally there cannot be negotiations yet.

There is only a MOU. That is it.

Last year's schedule doesn't mean anything. Until the governor puts it in writing there is nothing.

 

You guys can always go over to the Cardinal Center. Lots going on there. They got a schedule. 50 competition shooting days this summer.

 

Again, I never said this shoot or that shoot WILL be happening, my point was and still is, there are other shooting events that have happened every year there, that most posters here don't know about.

Although the AIM and Grand is now on the calendar, Monica must have forgot to call you.

 

There you go again Doc! If you knew anything at all about Illinois you would know they hold the largest pistol matches in the country every night in Chicago!

 

Only thing I know about pistol shooting in Chicago is Blacks shooting Blacks w/pistols. Have never heard of any pistol events at the WRSC site since it was built, nothing has been said that I saw on this or the other site.

I heard there is need for a Corn Dog Stand, and A Sausage Stand like the one Vandalia Had. That would be nice.

Chicago is a 24/7 shooting range , the attendance keeps going up ... 97 % of all blacks shot or murdered are shot or murdered by other blacks so its kind of like Poetic Justice in a weird sort of way ... My only fear is Fear itself but I have to tell you , the world is not a much better place than when I was a kid and I fear for the kids now days ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

 

And Bernie boy just don't get it why there's a disproportionate amount of blacks in prison then whites.
