The Presidential gun was still being given in 2015, it caused an over budget cost of $21,256 including legal fees and audit costs due to the delivery timing of it. Over budget costs were general &admin. costs over by $1,007,360 ATA Jewelry sales over budget by$8,800 HOF Acctg work over by $4,396 Membership Svcs over by $6,395 Combined Satellite Grands were over budget by$16,926 Operating Activities over by $12,508 Primary Contributors of Trophies was over budget by $23,291 The Average Book printing was over budget, But it was a Trap & Field cost that is billed to the ATA This is just some of the lost money by the ATA for 2015 But main point was the ATA President was still being delivered an expensive TRAPGUN. Partially compiled from ATA minutes Gary Bryant.....................Dr.longshot
The SCTP Program added 2,900 members between March & May 2015 which added to revenue and GAH entries in 2015 GB.................DLS
This runs just like our Government..COMPLETELY OVER BUDGET and no one really gives a damn, just keep the ball rolling. And there is still money left in their accounts to meet payrolls and taxes?
Longshot, When you say "partially compiled from ATA minutes" you are correct. You left out the reasons of the items being over budget. Those reasons are "timing of the receipts". If all the information isn't there they have to report on what they have. Even the presidential gun's expense is skewed because of the timing of delivery. For those interested in reading for yourselves the information can be found in the "August 2015 minutes" lines # 291 through 365 on the ATA website.
I stated the reasons of the Over Budget, But was more interested in the Presidential Trapgun Deal is still being done, when it was posted in a thread it was stopped several years ago, That thread was WRONG, it is still being done. Gary Bryant......................Dr.longshot
Gary, I don't know whether you intentionally misquote things or simply don't understand what you are reading. From the minutes: Line 308-310 "On the operating activities expense side, the ATA was over budget by $12,508. Actual general and administrative expenses of $1,019,868 were more than the budgeted expenses of $1,007,360." Your quote would indicate the ATA was $1,007,360 over budget.
Hey I read the ATA Minutes and that is what they stated in overall expenses between 2014-2015 But they are still giving expensive Trapguns to past Presidents
Comforting to know that Dr Longshot is still his same ol self.. I respect a man who's consistent. I must have learned math at the same school as Iowa Guy.. .I got the same number he did... $12,508
Gary, You answered my question. By the way, my post was typed exactly how the minutes were shown on the ATA website. Since you still don't seem to understand what you are reading let me state it this way, in my own words. The ATA budgeted for expenses of $1,007,360 for the year. The had actual expenses of $1,019,868. They were over budget on expenses to the amount of $12,508. You seem to be stating that all the 'over budget' items you list are expense items. If I recall the minutes correctly, some, if not most, of those were actually revenue items. Being over budget on revenue is a good thing.
That's a bad thing, it cost the ATA because there was not enough money to cover the expenses. It's our dimes going to waste GB..........................DLS
there is no sense in discussing this with you. You clearly don't understand what you are reading. Nor did you read the entire thing which explains many of the reasons for being over budget. Being over budget on revenue means you realized more revenue than you expected to. Stick to criticizing the ATA for target flights.
Wow, Doc you really butchered that financial data. Yes, it does appear the president took the gun this year , but besides that you pretty much misunderstood everything you read . The $27,000+ issue you label as being due to the gun was actually related to underestimation of audit fees, nothing to do with the gun. The gun caused a little over $12,000 in budget differences due to a timing issue ( which just means it was recorded in a time period that differed from original estimate, not that it cost more than estimated)
Edit to my earlier post where I didn't look back at Gary's original post: My reference to $27,000+ was intended to be $21,000+... referring to your misunderstanding of the $21,256 overage in legal & accounting expenses.
I've been involved in the shooting sports since I was a young boy. Being so busy in my career the only real outside interest for me has been shooting trap at a wonderful old gun club near my home. Everyone has been so helpful and I really enjoy shooting trap, especially with the old fellas. I've never shot a regisered target. I may join PITA as it's popular where I live in Oregon. This site got me interested in the ATA so I've been reading up. After watching the video of Paul Shaw explaining why the EC of the ATA replaced him on an oversite committee I can say without doubt that I will not be joining the ATA. Everything I've read stinks of cronyism. What a mess.
The State of Illinois is in financial distress (12.7 Billion) , the ATA it appears is going to try and pick up the pieces after the dismal failures realized at the WSRC in Sparta, Ill over the past 11 years contributing to the States deficit with another 23 million (+) dollars in losses ... The ATA needs to get real and get back in touch with reality and eliminate the Presidential Gun give away program as well and paid expenses for any and all of the EC, ED, and some of the BOD to attend any shoots in the future ... This will no doubt be a hard pill for many to swallow but sometimes you got to do what you got to do ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
