It's going down a little. Why isn't the price per bag going down?

Profit Profit Profit. Why lower the price. What goes up doesn’t have to come down. When was the last time that anybody has seen lead shot on sale. At the grocery store when they have a sale you have to purchase in multiples of 5 to get the sale price.
Do you really need 5 boxes of cereal or butter or cheese.

Several years ago we had our lead reclamed. We had about 95,000 lbs of shot. We got .85 a pound. Lead really fluxuates, as with most metals.

I doubt the ammo manufacturers are paying that much for shot. They probably buy the lead offshore and manufacture their own shot.

If you think about it, and compare to other commodity's, the raw material to make lead shot at .92 a pound cost $23.00 per bag. It still has to be made into shot and bagged. Thats not really what I would call gouging. I paid $46.00 a bag just 6 weeks ago. Thank God they don't mark it up like prescription drug's! All in all they aren't making a killing. Less then 100% mark-up. Who knows what the wholesaler is getting paid for it, and then the retailer has to make money as well or else they won't be staying in business.

I looked up the LME (London Metal Exchange, the stock market for some metals) and was speechless. $2020 per MT. 92 cents per pound!!!! That is $23 in RAW lead cost!! (at today's spot market prices)

Antimony has more than doubled in price in the last 6 months. Almost half of the worldwide supply of antimony comes from China. Currently the U.S. produces zero antimony. Earlier this year China imposed export restrictions on antimony causing the price to more than double. At 4% antimony content, a 25 lb bag of shot will contain 1 lb of antimony. At current market price, antimony is roughly $10 per pound and the price is continuing to rise. Considering all the other uses that are critical to our national security, antimony for hardening lead shot will be increasingly harder and more expensive to obtain. There is a glimmer of hope with a couple of antimony mining projects in the works for Idaho and Alaska but those projects will most certainly die if Kamala gets elected. Our nuts are firmly in China’s hands at the moment and that seems to suit our current President just fine.
