Need some assistance for a proper resolution. Fired this 12 gauge shell, broke open the gun to pull out the shell and only the Brass came out. The body of the shell separated from base and is stuck about 2” down the tube. It’s in there very solid! Best ideas on how to extract it? I considered a 12 gauge sized dowel but this is a choke tube gun (CG Summit Trap) and the dowel would have to be thinner than the barrel wall due to the choke tube shelf/seat assuming I’m working this from the the muzzle of the gun to the chamber. Any help appreciated.
Success! I know several methods most likely would have worked. What I ended up doing was soaking the hull with WD40 from both ends at let it sit for 20 minutes. This seemed to soften the hull just a bit. I then used a bamboo skewer from the chamber side to pry the edge of the plastic inward to create a lip and a channel almost the length of the hull. Sprayed more wd40 into that channel, let it sit and then used a wooden dowel from the muzzle end to tap the edges of the hull and it came out rather easily. Anything put in from the muzzle end was going to be the inside diameter of the hull not the bore - due to the choke tube ledge/shelf being smaller. If the plastic was still tight after all of the above, I would have used some packing in front of the dowel to create more diameter then tapped it out
