Just got an e-mail from the Florida Trap Association, the cost for the first 100 targets registered is $41.00+$7.00 daily fees, now add $40.00 for cheap ammo ,plus $40.00 gas & tolls

And people wonder why registered shooting in Florida is dying?

In Florida unless you live close to a club, the minimum drive is between 200-70 miles-and most Fl shooters are over 70, you gotta be nuts to declare for senior vet in FL, the ATA should have an Elder Class like Illinois for shooters over 80.

Been awhile since I've shot at a major shoot, If Trump gets in , we can only hope for a stop of inflation and a reverse of these crazy prices

When it crests $ 1.00 dollar per bird will that slow things down even more? I realize with gas food etc. we are already over that here in Florida. I also understand if your shooting premium ammo you are at a buck a bird; right now.
Of course, the quick answer would be to buy a more expensive gun, that usually works......

When the handicap system worked and there was money to be won we didn't care about target cost. The ATA and delegates are more focused on propping up Sparta.

Actual cost of smaller quantities of targets is about $14/100. (i would think less for large/truck load quantities)..when $44/100 is charged that is $30 gross profit per shooter....500 shooter event = $15,000 gross profit x 3 events/day = $45,000/day...seems excessive yet target fees continue to increase....

Just a thought , with the Dixie Grand and Bob Schultz being an Euro Target distributor, do ya think they will be throwing Euro's, more gross profit @ $44.00/ 100

Yes, and the atmosphere is just great in the clubhouse. Bring your own friend since no one else will talk to you.

That is including in you shooting fees....WOW!

Ron Fisher you obviously have never run a shoot. There are a lot of cost
not seen by shooters. Insurance, Taxes, Electricity, Gas/Propane and the
big one is labor. It takes a lot of personnel to put on a big shot. There is no
$$ in running a gun club compare to other hobbies.

    645 G,
What club has these cliques you are referring to? I have shot at the Bostic club numerous time and have never seen it. But it may be because people like me.

At 72 I am finding a local small club shoot almost every weekend. Done with the eight-hour drives and motel stays. Can have just as much fun and support the small clubs that started this sport for me.

The 5 or 6 local clubs in my area all used to shoot ATA registered targets. That is down to only 1 now, and they have a hard time filling a squad. Most clubs now shoot a 50 bird team shoot during the week. The team shoots are fun, affordable and very well attended. My state shoot are the only registered targets I shoot. Being a Senior Vet with no target requirements helps.
