We were so poor that on evenings when there was no food Mama would sit us down at the table and read us the recipes. I had one brother that was hard of hearing.......he almost starved to death.
Money cant buy you happiness. Being broke can buy you nothing. It is easier to cry in a Mercedes than on a bus. We were so poor that if I didnt wake up with a steffie I didnt have anything to play with for the rest of the day.
Money may not be the key to happiness, but having enough to cover basic necessities can certainly make life a lot more manageable. While material possessions don't guarantee joy, it's hard to find happiness when you're struggling to make ends meet. As they say, it's easier to laugh on a full stomach than on an empty one.
