HOF Dave Berlet and his son Dirk shot some big scores at the Grand. Dirk had a 200 straight in Singles and 100 in Doubles. Dave's 97 matched the temperature and with it comes his 80 year attendance patch.

You do not have to shoot to get attendance pin. But I think Dave shot in
    7 different decades.

Dave did receive his 80 year attendance patch last night. Yep, he broke a 97 in the handicap on Sunday and a 96 in todays caps. I was with Dave last night. I was given my 50 year patch.

It boggles the mind that when Dave first attended the Grand, Franklin D. Roosevelt was the US president.

I have it on good authority Brad that he was most proficient doing the Lindy.

You can still see traces of that today looking at his shooting stance.

Of course it could also be said that he adopts that stance in order to keep his eye on every food vendor. ;)

Roger, just to set the record straight my dad was a shooter and we only lived about 45 miles from the shooting grounds at Vandalia. I was born in June of 1942 and my mother said that they didn't take me in 42 and she thought that they probably took me in 43, but she wasn't sure, but beginning in 44 she knew that I had attended every Grand until I started shooting the Grand in 1957 and I shot every Grand until 2020. During the 2020 Grand ( August 2 ) I had my 3rd right knee replacement and the 4th major surgery on that knee, and I have attended every Grand since. This was my 68th Grand to shoot in. My first Grand trophies came in 1958 and I have won trophies in every decade since. 1950's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's. 2000's, 10's, and 20's which totals 8 decades, both at the Grand and at the Ohio State Shoot. In 2016 the ATA awarded me a plaque for being the first person to shoot 100,000 Grand American program targets. At the grounds in Vandalia I registered 74,100 targets and 54,300 Ohio State Shoot targets on the ATA grounds for a total of 128,400 which I am sure is the most targets any individual shot there. By the way at the Fisher Brother's Shooting Park in Findlay, Ohio, which later became Jaqua's I registered 161,000 targets until they closed the shooting park after 2014. Also I remember that Jacque Snellenberger attended her first Grand at the tender age of 6 days and as far as I know she has attended every one since for a good start to an impressive long run.

This is the story which parts of have been told by many and also doubted by many, so believe it or not this my story of many shooting years.
