Trap & Field——Completed Careers. + $50

After finally receiving my December edition and reading the Completed Careers article I find it sad that the ATA feels it has to charge $50.00 for the obituaries.

I have shot over 435,000 registered targets and now my wife has to pay an extra $50.00 to let my shooting friends around the country know that I have passed.

A stupid way for the ATA to get more money.

Have to say this will be my final subscription year for T&F. Charging members for completed careers is absurd I have much more interest in shooters who have passed across the country than what vest , what type of gun or what ammo an All American supposedly uses, or pages of AIM or for that matter the majority of BS contained in the magazine as of late What Moron lays claim to this decision…..I was wondering where the VP of Marketing for Budweiser ended up…….
Another aspect is the ATA HOF…….how many people read the completed careers and donate to the HOF???

In the middle of Pa; the Harrisburg Patriot News wants $400 dollars to print a obit ! It is my belief that this matter will be addressed and fully explained by those of the ATA officials. Maybe even ruled not necessary if certain info is supplied by the sender and the research not required. Saving you the $50 dollars.........good shooting to all

While I completely agree with Ron Burdick’s original post, my wife says y’all are missing a money making opportunity. I asked her how that could be? She told me there are plenty of ATA and OSTA officials, both past and present, that would gladly pay her 50 bucks to see my name listed in the obits. I’m pretty sure she is right about that!

 

Trapshooters are notorious for threatening to quit every time they raise the price of a bag of wads .25. This is the last straw!

 

The ATA website has a note saying we misunderstood and there is no $50 fee to publish an obit. There is a fee if we want them to research a shooter’s career. Not sure why they couldn’t just say we f@#ed this up and decided to change it but at least they got rid of the fee. Sadly for me, several folks have called my wife offering far more than the original 50 bucks if she could somehow take me out. Normally I’m a pretty calm fella, but my wife LOVES to hunt upland birds with me. I’m going to be wearing a GoPro from now on when we hunt just in case there is any “Dick Cheney” type funny business!

Seriously, nice job Mr. Ron Burdick in bringing this to everyone’s attention. It remains to be seen if there will be a Bud Light type of boycott over this flip flop. The sad thing is if Trap and Field had simply asked for whatever donation the bereaved felt appropriate to publish an obit they would have received far more than 50 bucks per obit.
