On November 14th I bought a new Caesar Guerini Summit Sporting 20 gauge with 30" barrels and LH stock From Jaqua's Fine Guns. List price is $5050 and I paid the dealer $4283 total. About four hours after I picked the gun up from my FFL I suffered a small stroke, three days later a second, more serious stroke. Since I'm 84 I'll probably never shoot the gun and I need to sell it for whatever I can. My question is, how much loss should I expect? I don't want to waste a lot of time on this, just prefer to not lose my shirt. Thanks
Have you asked Jaqua’s what they might do for you? They have a pretty good reputation for being fair. Ron B
Yes, they said they would try to sell it on consignment for $3600, after their 15% commission I would get about $3060. That would be a pretty big loss on a gun that haven't been taken out of the box.
Admin, If I did something wrong please delete. I wasn't trying to sell, just looking for information.
The combination of 20 gauge, left hand stock, and 30" barrels make for a tough sale due to low demand and a very small potential market. Jaquas offer is probably your best bet since they have a much larger reach than you will trying to sell it on your own.
So you have a NIB, never fired gun and Jaquas said they would sell it to someone for $3600. Then take a cut of that. They sold you the gun which was a NIB unfired for $4283.00 I know, there was tax so the price was less than that, but that’s still a pretty big drop. The first thing I would do is call or email CG and ask about exchanging the Left handed stock for a neutral one. Can’t hurt, all they can say is no. Then I would list it here for sale at $3500.00 plus shipping. If you get a hit you can always work out a deal. Anything is better than the $3060 you were going to get from Jaquas.
Very sorry to hear of your health issues. Hope you recover well. I do agree with Skeet Man that the left hand stock makes it a smaller demographic of potential buyers (many more right handed shooters as compared to leftys). As Flyersarebest suggested, post it here and see if a left handed forum member expresses interest. A left hand shooter will appreciate a dedicated left hand stock. Good luck and good shooting, Rey
Truly sorry to hear of your misfortune. While you do have a bit of a smaller demand audience, it would have been reassuring to hear of a more gentler response from Jaqua's. Understand that they are profit oriented, however I remember a time when our sport was more forgiving.
SOT is correct. And since demand has a major affect on value, the LH stock has less than 10% demand than a R H stock. Expect 20-30 % less than what you paid
Thanks everyone for the input, I will probably post it next week with pictures for $3600, that's about 15% under my cost and see what happens. As for Jaqua's, I have no problem with what they offered, I understand the math. They were the only dealer in the country that had the gun I wanted when I wanted it, and I found them to be excellent to deal with and I highly recommend them.
C.G. charges another $285 more for a stock that has cast on instead of cast off for a left hander. Then we try to sell them they dock us at least that much more for a left hand guns - Sucks being a left hand shooter!
rrisum you are correct, however I've found that left handed shooters are more skilled, handsome and of course more modest than right hand shooters.
Jacqua's has seldom done any buyer a favor in selling them a gun. Seek any other reputable dealer to sell your C.G. on consignment and concentrate on solving your health issues.
I have personally found CG customer service has gone downhill since they first started. My first CG they bent over backwards to makes things right and their free service was fantastic. After buying my third CG I will never own another and will gladly spend my money elsewhere. I hope your health improves and personally I would share the info on the stock prices for a righty but I would advertise the gun for sale on different sights.. GunsInternational is very effective and low cost. Bill
Jim,sorry to hear about your health .I bought some Rottweil firing pins from you and I appreciated you taking care of that . PRAYERS are headed your way for Quick recovery and GOOD HEALTH . JOE Whitehurst
I offered jaquas a 3000.00 gun for a 2000.00 gun in trade and they passed on it. they wanted me to give them my gun...not sell it to them. do the math.
