My list of top 5 Semi Autos in terms of appearance. What is yours?

Although Trap and Skeet is dominated by Over/Unders and they are great looking and high functioning guns but so are the semi autos. I'm going to list my top five in terms of appearance. I know that all not not suited for both sports. I am fairly certain that all who read this will have had at least one and maybe more of these models. I would like your opinion. (I know the A5 is not considered a target gun per se.)

My list: Using appearance as the criteria.

1. Browning Double Auto
2. Remington 1100
3. Winchester Model 50
4. Beretta's 301-303
5. Browning A5 ,

 

Number 1 is a DeVault NCP Beretta 391 conversion, with good wood ebony grip cap and Dennis custom rib--how do I know I' currently shooting one

 

Nice gun, I have a Devault 390. I was posting about factory original guns. I bought it used about 5 yrs ago,

3. Rem 1100
4. Beretta 391 Urika Gold
5. Franchi AL-48

 

who says an A5 isnt/wasnt a target gun?
maybe not currently, but in its day, it was.

 

Can't top a Cosmi, for looks or a Butler for second

beretta A400 Multi Target is the best Semi Auto
i have ever shot. It is just like a
Timex, Keep shooting and keeps on ticking. And yes I have owned them all. I still love my A5. Owned the little 20 since
I was 12. I'm 74.

Winchester Super X-1
Beretta 300-301
Beretta AL-1 AL-2
Rem 1100

 

Hard to beat the A400, incredibly reliable.

A lot of the older shooters swear by the Super X 1.

For Looks? Yeah, I agree with the OP, the Browning 2 shots with the different color receivers.

 

Browning A-5 My wife gave me one for XMAS 1959. I used it in the field, and trap when I first started shooting in 1972, I shot rabbits. birds, deer, ducks lord only knows how many rounds were fired thru it. I gave it to my nephew a year ago.
It never failed to fire and never jammed in all those years It was never repaired for any reason. Roger C.

 

I agree it is the best. I shot a lot of Quail, Ducks, Pheasants not to mention Turkeys. At this age and stage of my life if I could have only one shotgun, it would be the Browning A5. Your nephew is a lucky guy.

 

To me, the Browning Double Auto in terms of looks by far.

Talking about auto loaders can a 391 stock fit on a multi-target

 

There are many attractive autoloaders out there.
In face, most autoloaders are nice-looking, with wood quality about the only distinguishing feature.
The ugliest autoloader ever made is the Auto-5....don't know how it can make anyone's list of attractive guns.

 

Like they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

IMO, Dbl Auto nailed it. They don't come much prettier.

 

This thread is not about reliability.
Look at the title: it's about attractiveness.
The Auto-5 was never known for its beauty, and never will be.

Insult me all you like, it doesn't change the appearance of the gun.

 

The early Remington 1100 traps had the best factory wood I ever seen! - Last new gun I paid three times what I paid for that 1100 jjust for upgraded wood and still wasn't as nice as Reminton factory wood.

 

Some Super-X's had spectacular wood therefore I'll give them a #1 for appearance.

what year was the walther?

 

Can't find a site to nail it exactly. MFG dates are from 1918-1930's. Mine is 4217, (stamped on the part of the forearm metal that drops down), so it's later in the run.

amazing how times have changed. 1 out of 5 in that list is an American gun.

 

I must admit: that is an autoloading shotgun that relegates the Auto-5 to second place on my Least Attractive Shotguns list.

For Me it has been the 1100 Remington and the D and F grades were awesome.

I wanted to point out the Benelli M4 Tacticool but after seeing all the cool semis. i reserve my comment.

 

How about a COSMI--hard to beat for looks and uniqueness

 

overpriced for what you get.
very complicated to operate.
they kick.
and you still have to pick up hulls.

 

At a club I shoot at, there is a Remington 1100"F" grade posted, the gun is beautiful, only "F" grade I 've ever seen

 

There is more to an attractive shotgun than highly-figured wood and gold-inlay engraving.
The lines and proportions must be pleasing to the eye.

Remington 1100/11-87, Winchester SX-series, and 300-series Berettas meet those requirements. In my lowly opinion, not many others do.
