Muller Choketubes- do they make a big difference?

I was curious about Muller choketubes. I have read posts where people are very impressed with them. Does anyone here have any experience with them? Maybe that is the magic ingredient that the BT-100 needs.

 

I have shot with folks that swear by them. My go to tubes are Carlsons.

When its all said and done choke tubes don`t make you a good shot. You have to do that yourself.

 

Exactly what "Smokintom said. I had them and sold them. I was not impressed with them at all, and went back to the Beretta factory Optimas.

 

There's more magic in the minds of people than in some brand of choke tubes.

I think the most important thing to do is gauge them to make sure they are what they say they are. No matter what brand. Rick

 

Several friends have Muller's and say they like them. (what else would you expect ?)
They don't mirror the usual choke dimensions as others, but go between the sizes of improved cylinder, modified, improved modified, and full and are light in weight.

Spend your choke tube money at the practice trap and you will come a lot closer to the magic the bt 100 needs

 

If you have crappy choke tubes that came with your budget gun, say a Mossberg Silver Reserve, then maybe.
However, if your gun came with good chokes, say Guerini, then don't waste the money.
One of my used guns came with Seminole chokes that were supposed to be the be all and end all, yet I can see no difference between them and the Guerini chokes that came with the same gun. Either on the Pattern Board, or on the Range.

However, who would put Muller chokes in a Silver Reserve? Chokes would cost more than the gun.

Took the Model 12 out this morning,

No worrying about choke tubes there, only fixed full to deal with. The Winchester shot pretty good, think I'll keep shooting it!

depends on the gun and the load imo. I use Mullers and Trulock they work the best for me and my Brownings with the loads I shoot. I have Briley's and Carlsons, and the factory Brownings, but I always wind up back to the Mullers in my 725 field gun with 28 inch barrels, and the Trulock in the 725 High Rib trap gun with 32 inch barrels.

Might be mind over matter, but I like the Muller's even though they are expensive, even more so for the invector DS chokes.

 

I look for a choke tube to do what I want it to do, I read how they are bored, their taper per inch, their length is very important, I do not like short choke tubes like the early ones such as Winchoke, am not picking on Winchoke, just using it as an example. I like chokes like Kicks for the Brownings, but only for particular applications. Over the past 6 years I am leaning to the Caesar Guerini Choke tubes for their design, I have yet to find a factory tube that will give me tighter even patterns than their Full Choke tubes. None. I have never tried Meuller Tubes and know nothing about them, I am not saying anything bad about them. I do like a factory trap Bbl. that has some taper in their bore from beginning of Bbl after chamber tapered to the beginning of choke tube bores. I have patterned so many of my guns, I know what they will do.
Especially with 1575fps Longshot 1 1/8th oz #6s. I have found that you will not blow #6s patterns@ 1600fps, have not tested any at faster speeds. Longshot Powder w/ 1 1/8th oz shot w/pressures 10,300psi is very soft on recoil, using a Windjammer wad,

 

With the different guns that I have had I tried different choke tubes. I did find that some choke tubes did produce a better pattern (more even) with the load I was using and also did not do as well as others with a different load. My conclusion is there is a difference in choke tubes and you just need the want to try and find the one that works good with your load. But remember is you change load the choke may not work as well any more

 

I use "Muller's", and like them very much. I screw them in and shot. I have other good brands, but "Muller" is the "flavor" I like.

I have tried Mullers and they were no better than any other choke. I swear by Kicks "smoke" chokes. I have used them in several different manufactures guns and they seem to work equally well in all of them.

 

I am slowly switching to Mueller chokes for sporting clays and 5stand because i switch shells on stages more than chokes.
rather than carry a bag full of chokes around i can throw a few different color coded shells in because as we all know size (of shot) and speed count.

 

I tried them in one of my Brownings and didn't see much, if any, difference between them and my Briley chokes. But that's just my experience in one gun.
Like the posters above stated, I can't seem to beat the factory choke tubes in my Guerini and Beretta.
