Williams County Gun Club and Newport Sportsmen's Club will host the NW zone shoot May 20-21. Saturday is 200 Singles, Sunday is 100 Doubles followed by 100 Handicap. Check your Zone program for rules and target prices. Options are very similar between the 2 clubs. Each club will be issuing Bonus Coupons of $10 per 100 targets, to be redeemed at the club that weekend only, for food, raffle, and other items for sale at the clubs. No cash refund value, and youth shooters shooting half priced targets with no options will receive $5 coupons per 100 targets. Hope to see you at the NW Zone- long range weather looks excellent. Joe Nester
Great job Joe. This is a way to fix the "over" price of targets. Thanks for being a very good business man and shooter friendly.
Joe and the entire gang at Williams County are simply the best promoters and idea people I’ve ever seen! Good on ya, Joe!!! If Bud Light had hired Joe instead of that gal the brand would be trying figure out how to brew more beer instead of finding new places to dump the beer they can’t sell!
Below is a copy of the Club bucks that will be available at Williams County and Newport during the NW Ohio Zone shoot. Please plan to attend one of the host clubs, enter an event and receive your $10 club Bucks. You can use your Club Bucks to enter the raffles, have lunch or spend on several other items available on the grounds.
This means you can use the coupons the purchase items from AJ Supplies. How about $20. off a flat of shells or a bag of shot!!!!!!! I love it!!!!!
I applaud this idea of the "Bonus Coupons" because the overpriced target price is set based off Middletown target price. To me, this shows that Williams County and Newport care about charging a fair price for their events and NOT "overcharging" the shooters as dictated by the OSTA. Jeff Sparks OSTA Northwest Zone Director
U are dead on Jeff. I hope a lot of the SW zone shooter's come North and shoot. Not sure if I am going to get some cheap shells or a bag of shoot from Roger. Love it!!
Jeff, in reviewing the OSTA minutes from the January 2023 meeting, Zone target prices are discussed and you never said a word. Now, five months later, you State "overcharging the shooters as dictated by the OSTA." Jeff, you have failed to mention your part in this "overcharging". Oh, that's right! You are one of those guys who sits through a meeting, with equal voting rights as the other eight Directors, and says nothing until the meeting is over and you are back within the safe confines of your computer room. People like you should stay in the shadows and never try and assume a leadership role within any organization. Leaders lead and little people like you are keyboard warriors!
It’s funny nobody complaining about the cardinal center charging 42 bucks for targets. Why does the cardinal center get a free pass? I’m sure not every club has volunteers doing all the work. Most of y’all complaining about target price’s and driving a hundred thousand dollar truck pulling a hundred thousand dollar camper shooting a twenty thousand dollar shotgun
Jeff, thanks for all of your hard work on the state board. It is a thankless job that most shooters have no idea of the BS and POLITICS that goes on at the organization level. I think we should "write in" HCarl for the zone director job at the zone shoot. What do you want to bet he would not accept the job if elected. I am sure he would sing a different song after a year on the job. Comparing the Cardinal Center to any other small club is like apples and oranges. I am sure many of you would be absolutely SHOCKED at what their overhead costs are. Can you guess at the labor cost?
One thing is for sure, if I were a director, I wouldn’t puff up and quit the job as soon as I figured out that I’d never be elected president. Sound familiar?
I've generaly tried to stay quite about all things OSTA since I've been off the board and washed my hands of ATA shooting. But saying that, I'm glad Joe is still trying, but it would be better to just let the zone shoot die. At one time they were important, that time is long gone today. I wish I could have killed them off when I was on the board but back then I choose to fight other battles. I was on the board for 7 years and did my best to end the zone shoot every time it was talked about. Let the zone shoot die already. The OSTA boards are normally dominated by a couple of members with some agenda and the others are just there. Not a good look I agree but the facts.
