I purchased a set about a month ago for my K80 with choke tube 30” barrels. I’ve used them on the skeet range - the 20 ga. and the 28 ga. I’ve run straights with each one of them. I’ve left the .005 skeet chokes in the barrels. I’ve been told the .410 Sidekick 2.0 tubes are not nearly as effective. I haven’t patterned any of the tubes yet but plan to do so just out of curiosity. I’d say, for the money, the Sidekicks are a worthwhile purchase if you’re going to use them for skeet shooting for fun. If you are planning on shooting registered targets I’m not sure I’d recommend them. BTW, the best price I found was an auction in eBay for a new set. I bid slightly below the “buy now” price and my offer was accepted. I think there are other sets still available.
I have used 20, 28 & 410 in my Perazzi. Had to return the 1st set to Briley for full refund. Reason, they would not eject high steel base shells at all from the 20 or 28 gauge. Briley said they would polish them out some for me, but upon further discussion with them I rejected their offer. I did purchase a second set & the same problem exists. I find it strange that I have a full set of ultra-lights and they do eject the same shells flawlessly. Again I spoke to Briley about this and they said I was lucky. I do like the the Side Kicks over the full length ultra- lights, so I guess I will wait until the ammo industry recognizes a problem or Briley does. As far as patterns have only used skeet chokes in all of those 3 gauges with very good results, not excellent, but very good.
Thanks for the reply. It’s been my experience that any high base ammo is it or miss on tubes It’s a low base game. Had that exact issue on my buds Kolar today I ordered the 20 bore 2.0 sidekicks today. Hope I’m happy with the performance
Got my 20 gauge sidekicks last week and shot them a ton over the weekend as well as patterened them They shoot to the same POI and brake skeet targets pretty well. Worked well with gun club ammo If you get a set, just shoot em. Don’t pattern them.... mine don’t look good on the plate but I can’t say it cost me any birds Over all I give them a B+. I have shot full length tubes a LOT and they are way better but weigh a ton and are expensive. The sidekick 2.0 is worth the dough.
