We do not want the targets any harder to break, just to return to the TARGET SETTINGS THAT STOOD FOR YEARS AND YEARS, Our forefathers shot them and broke good scores, are you not capable of breaking good scores w/voice calls/better Trapguns/faster better shells?

Any of you who do not want a competitive target like our forefathers shot are a sorry lot, and do not deserve to shoot trap any place or any where in the WORLD.

Sporting Clays Shooters, shoot a sporting target, and like them, kids are shooting them and like them.

I hate to say this but you are pardon the term XXXXXXX, afraid of competition.

If any of you have any XXXXX at all you will make it known at the ATA meeting, you want TARGET SETTINGS RESTORED TO NOT LESS THAN STRAIGHT-A-WAYS FROM POSTS #1 AND #5 AND A 50-52 YARD TARGET SET AT 9.5 FEET @10 YARDS.

If you can get permission to address the ATA meeting, I will be proud to speak for you if you like. Or speak for yourselves or thru your DELEGATE, but STAND UP AND BE HEARD

I AM NOT bashing the ATA,

In the wake of Governor Rauner's action in which he yesterday informed all WSRC staff that they would be laid off in September, has the ATA also informed all staff based in Sparta that they would also be laid off?

The ATA would have to retain office staff to take care of the incoming fees, memberships, scores, shooting reports, etc. even if the WSRC is shut down so I seriously doubt anyones job would be in jeopardy who works for the ATA ... The ATA can more than survive on the shooting fees collected at the shoots all across America and other countrys ... The ATA could concievably (sp) eliminate positions on the EC in the process of down sizing, so that would be a considerable savings ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

I don't believe that the ATA has any permanant staff at the WSC, the ATA office staff are located at the ATA office in the Town of Sparta. Looks like the Illinois Governor is turning up the heat on the Democrats and this latest statement does not look good for the ATA at the WSC.

It looks utterly horrible. The ATA simply cannot remain in a place where there is a gun perpetually pointed at its head. Sparta was a colossal blunder by the ATA. The ATA thought it could live forever on taxpayer dollars, but a Republican Governor killed their plans.

The ATA should close the book on Sparta and walk away.

Dr Longshot- this thread is so arrogant on your part it is unreal- you call everyone out on a forum and act as if the call out has some kind of standing somewhere.

You have become so delusional it is unreal- you have no status anywhere that gives you any authority, status, or stature to do anything anywhere anytime. to with or for anyone.

I see lots of fulminating, and I see lots of railing against Longshot, but I don't see you saying the targets are too soft.

Where do you stand on that?

I ran some stats the other night and posted the analysis. The targets are embarrassingly easy. That's not a "delusion." That's a provable fact. Longshot has shot pallets of competitive targets and shells in his lifetime. He's easily qualified to form a qualified opinion and pose a question to the sport. On pre-1954 targets, he might even be the better shooter. Longshot called on the leaders in the sport to lead the sport back to integrity. No sport will thrive amidst ridicule that it is an illegitimate sporting challenge.

You've declined his invitation for you to lead the sport to greater sporting standards.

In 1963 and before most of us shot Model 12's or similar with shells loaded with paper wads and soft shot. Target colors were either pale yellow or white and the pullers actually pushed a button-not always when you called for a target. Yes, and most of the very best shooters read traps quite well so they knew where the targets were going.

Anyone trying to compare that era with today is a fool!!

Hell, we were lucky to see yellow domed targets. Most what we shot were all black.

Are you and Bryant getting married soon?

DLS is so full of self-righteous attitude it is pathetic. I don't care how many pallets of ammo he has shot up, I don't see any qualifications that make him worthy of any opinion that should be taken to heart.

He is no better than some of these other clown that are "KEYBOARD RAMBO's" and just run off at the mouth.

I thought he was going to remove himself from this forum!

When things really get hot for him, he brags about beating "Big Don" at a grudge match. Well I saw the scores, and yes he did win, put in my opinion, he didn't beat anybody. Winning by a couple of targets is a win, winning by a noticable amount is beating someone. All he did was win. A win is still a win, but not a beating.

When he has the number of wins and the respect that Phil and the others have or had, then he can chime in on this crap. I personally don't think he has the balls for it, but I could be wrong.

I think he is more like the rest of the shooters. Bitch and complain to everyone except those that are trying to run it. Do everything possible to make it fail and then stand back and say "I told you so", but still not offer any help, just bull**** opinions and manure.

    IMHO

ps, I don't think much of him either, nor his shooting ability...

Are you going to stop being a worthless loser anytime soon? Didn't think so. Another nitwit for my Ignore file.

Whenever you think you're man enough to question Longshot's abilities, show up at Cardinal for a 90 yard shoot. Gary can start to pave Cardinal's access road with the bricks he's racking up.

I'm far from worthless, and don't be ashamed of being the way you are, the SCOTUS has decreed that it is OK to be who you are.

As for Bryant, He would need his special shells, not even Super Handicaps would be good enough for him and there would be some kind of ailment to prevent it from happening.

If you guys decide to tie the knot, you could hold the ceremony on the newly paved access road.

Post a note here, and we all will come.

I thought Bryant was going to remove himself from this forum?

Alas I do not have any quantity of ATA trophies to hang my credentials upon. As I understand it, trophies mean nothing in the way of proof of talent in shooting. If it did, you would be nothing compared to Phil and others that you bang on all the time on how they are a bunch of pu****s for not shooting to your specifications.

Some of these guys have been shooting longer than you and are still shooting scores that you couldn't come close to on your best days.

I think I heard something about George Snellenberger being rcognized for 60 years. I would put up a fair days wages on George anytime. I have seen him shoot poor, but he shoots well more often than not. But, then again He probably doesn't have the trophies that you have.

George was also a damn fine live bird shooter back in the day, but not as good as you I'm sure. Just ask YOU....

I thought you were going to remove yourself from this forum?

To bad you didn't even follow thru on that one.

The numbers are in : WalMart increased business by almost 22% over last year though shells sales were down slightly, food and adult beverages were over the estimated sales considerably ... They sold more non resident hunting licenses than any year previous, so thats a good thing ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

Theft has always been a problem and probably always will be, sometimes out of desparation to feed a family ... The major retailers all across America are getting hit and like it says many times from employees ... WalMart had a relaxed attitude to some degree but there comes a time when the security measures have to be enforced or it becomes a revolving door ... Its truly sad that the world today is as it is and I do not see it getting any better anytime soon ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

There is not one retailer in the US that loses one penny due to theft. The honest consumer picks up the tab.

They track it, adjust their pricing, and put on a show for the honest people that are the ones who pay for it.

I believe I read that something like 92% of ATA members haven't broke a 100 straight, let alone a 200.

3-4 years ago, I broke down the numbers at the Southwestern Grand. Nearly 50% of the shooters were 27 yarders, but only 84% broke a score over 89 or better in all the handicaps. That tells me the targets are either not "easy" or lots of the 27 yarders got there and want to stay there for a number of reasons and are refusing reductions.

On calm days, I am not surprised that a 27 yarder, or at least a long yardage shooter would win an event. After all, the real "legit average based" 27 yarder is a good shooter. They probably shoot more, understand the game, and are prepared mentally and physically to shoot good. However weather is a great equalizer. On windy days, a short yardage shooter has an advantage.

So, if we have a vast number of shooters that aren't qualified to shoot the yardage they're on now, and a large majority can't even break 100 from the 16, then are harder targets going to cause a loss in membership? We won't know unless we experiment.

I also shoot registered sporting. Like trap, there is a group of Masterclass shooters that are far above the pack. They have a well developed shooting history, mental and physical abilities that exceed the mere mortals, and have earned their credentials. There is and always will be an exceptional group in the shooting sports. Desire and abilities usually pave the way.

One thing I've noticed in Sporting is this. When the target setter sets up a real S.O.B., tough course, the sporties aren't pissed. They bear down and live with it because everyone is shooting the same targets, and perfection is not expected, but attainable with excellant shooting.

The trap game mentality is different.

    duffkjs06,
If you re read what I said, I never said that any retailer lost one cent ... You must learn to read what is written not what you want it to say ... Honest people pay for everything the thieves try to steal it to the tune of Billions per year ... So it goes ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
