So sorry to hear. Still traded emails with Fred. Another of my trapshooting friends lost. Our condolences to Eileen and the girls. Dave & Sandy Berlet &Dirk Meckstroth
I shot many many times with Fred. One of my best memories with Fred was that him, Leo, Aden, and me went grouse hunting with Bill Lawless to Tappen Lake one January in the late 70's or early 80's. It was cold and cloudy when we started and then it began to snow. It snowed and snowed and almost became a white out. Aden and Bill kept saying the truck was this way, after going up and down three or four hills and no truck I told Fred he could follow those guys but I thought the truck was this other way and that was the way I was headed. Fred followed me and we found the truck within in 15 minutes. Fred thanked me for that every time I saw him. With Fred's passing I'm the last one left from our grouse hunt. The only problem I see with having so many trap shooting friends from the old days is having to say goodby to them one by one. Goodyby Fred I hope too see you again, save me a spot on a squad with the guys if you get the chance.
Brad, I know the feeling. I'm the last one in my golf foursome, the last of our fishing group, and the last one in our shooting squad. I met Fred in 1976 at the Michigan state shoot. He was a good friend from then on. Roger C. P.S. When you live to be 86 most of your friends have left the world.
Fred was a great guy and always fun to be with! Him and Eileen had 2 dogs that were trained to find one paper Fed in a target box full of plastic empties. At the State Shoot one year, Fred's golf cart disappeared when he and Eileen went to Friendly's for ice cream. Fred and others looked for it for hours that night. The cart was found the next morning in the Loctite trailer 50ft from the security office! The OSTA got pretty upset about it and Eileen was even more upset! But all ended well! Fred, you will always be missed! Bob Friede
