That is it. When my son laid his eyes on it, he asked when will it be finished. He thought the open initial walkway looks unfinished. I told him that I thought it is finished, as a structure. It was empty, or it appeared it was as of the SCTP Nationals. Shoot well. John
If they wanted to let everyone know the place is air conditioned they did a good job. Anyone walking by can see it, RIGHT NEXT TO THE FRONT DOOR. Hell, the people living in the international space station can see. Flyersarebest
I would like to have been the one paid 2.1 million for that job ..... Unless there is 1.6 million dollars worth of gold fixtures inside.
what are the dimensions, total sq. ft. so we know what cost was per Sq. Ft. At $2.1 Million dollars, for something the next big Tornado will Flatten and re distribute it over Southern Illinois. GB DLS
The contractor must have used someone's Walmart calculator when pricing that place by the square-foot ....
Its is what it is, hope the HOF gets to use it for many years to come ... Its not what you would call impressive but it works and blends with the immediate area ... I do not see 2.1 million but being as it is a State project I guess that would not surprise anyone who has ever been involved in such nonsense ... Wish them well and hope it works out ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
I too wish it well. I'm out of touch on building costs but a finish carpenter friend of mine says all he installs in these 1/2- 3/4 Mil. houses is this putty board molding and staircases. Regards.....Gerald
Our delegates gave $250K in addition to the almost 2 million. What part cost 250K? Did that local Amish community build it?
If the Amish had built it, it would have been impressive, and had A/C in the rear of the Bld, if they had approved and A/C and Electric/not candles. Every corner would be SQUARE. Gary Bryant Dr.longshot
Not an impressive building in my mind for the price the HOF reported as the cost but just maybe the inside is elaborately finished as well as being air conditioned
Best guess would be the HOF insure the structure ... why would the state care if it was a loss ???? They do not appear to have a future use for it.
Personally, I think they need a life sized staue of the "Biggest Winner" (Leo Harrison III) right inside the front door (maybe the back door also) but none the less there was only one ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
Did you move it to the front of the building, or do you have a nice new air system? That is quick work.
Old fashioned air conditioner. A flattened shell box glued to a tongue depressor. Only $5.00 at the door. Now, some boxes are better as fans than others so you can "pre order" one for $6.00 and you get the better box. Fair? No, but it will bring in more money. Flyersarebest On a serious note, they should name it, no matter where it ends up, LEO'S PLACE Flyersarebest
Now you've gone and done it, made the A/C hard to service, by having the A/C in front it was easier to service from the road. Don't you guys know nuttin.
How many Square Feet is the Building? For a structure like that should be about $90.00 Sg.Ft. 222,222.22Sq Ft if my Walmart Calculator is working correctly. Am I Close? Gary Bryant Dr.longshot
I believe it is 9,100 Sq Ft. @ $2,100,000 / 9,100 = $230.77 / Sq Ft.... I hope they have a second story in it for that price.. As I saw it, it is only sitting on a slab also. And the front entrance hasn't even got a full roof ?
Easy there Brad's friend. Them poles sticking our of the ground could be used for hitching the horses.
Awe Gee Pardner (cfandg), I forgot all about them horsies. Now we need a watering trough. Did Roy Rogers ride Trigger to the shoots ??? Today He could get from one end of the fields to the other on Trigger faster than on a cart.
Now need a watering trough? and previously we got rid of the A/C from the front of the building and all that cold water. We're not thinking straight. Let's put a plan on paper before we move on something and not be like the people who designed this building. If we keep changing things ( removing or adding) the cost of this building will increase over what is now astronomical.
They may be putting in some pool tables, Norman Hussey knows how to run a pool hall, as he owned one. That way when visitors come they have something to do. Trap fields will be closed, Traps stored off grounds along w/ voice calls, along with HOF Merchandise Etc. Gary Bryant Dr.longshot
I was told by a friend who is there they were not open at the time they tried to visit, looked inside best they could and didn't see anything .... Not sure what thats all about except maybe everything is on hold until things calm down with the budget meetings etc ... They said there was a sign on the door but the writing was facing toward the inside and they couldn't make it out ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
The exposed rafters on the entry way looks like a good place to hang ropes with chairs under them in case Sparta closes!
Those pesky construction costs sure run high in Southern Illinois. I gotta believe the gentleman that donated the large sum of money must be overjoyed seeing the finished project on leased land. They did do a wonderful job hiding the wheels.
This bldg should last forever with no one going inside it will not have any wear and tear therefore will not require any maintenance, maybe this was the original plan, a tribute to nobody.
The more I looked at that picture, the more it looked like a bunch of "Take Off" steel siding. All different colors and sizes. Horizntal at the bottom, verticle on the top with different colors ? That building to me just doesn't look right. Don't get me wrong, I am a person who enjoys the history of Trap Shooting.
