Before heading out for Sparta Saturday. Was wondering what the ammo situation was in Sparta shell house? Any reports?
Looks like plenty available. Pay for your shooting and then go to the shell house to print off your voucher. You are same to buy for the events that you have paid for
Gamaliel shell house has ammo ranging from $85 to $120 per flat. Same price as Sparta Wal Mart. If you go, support the shell house.
$85- Super Target, Gun Clubs, Top Gun, Estate, Challenger; $90-Fiocchi, Clever; $105- Fiocchi White Rhino, Browning; $110- Federal HOA; $120-AA, STS, Nitro; $130-Federal Paper, AA Elite; Small Gauge-$140
I have 2 friends shooting the grand this year, they say the ammo is here and plenty of it, just bring your wallet
There was ammo. I only picked up 4 flats of Gun Clubs. 85/flat before tax. At $77/100 targets (targets/fees/ammo), must shoot a 99+ to win, same 15 people on top all the time, my interest in ATA is going way down.
I did not attend the grand this year or last year. I was told the targets were set narrower than a two hole setting. That could be the reason for the high scores. The officers of the ATA are shitting in their own nest. They are loosing shooters every day and have not a clue, as to why they are leaving or how to stop them. After 40+ years of attending registered shoots , I have lost interest in the sport, because of the way it has been badly run for the last 20+ years. Roger C.
I looked at the pay out sheet...truly pathetic. I would like to go next year just to compete with other ''Chair'' shooters though. Forget playing the money other then yardage purse, maybe. Some of those ''Top Dog'' guys shooting those easy angle targets are breaking consistent AAA scores from the 27.
Let's look at from another angle. It's obvious the scores are much higher on easier targets. It's also obvious narrower targets water down payoffs so everyone gets a smaller a piece of the action and everyone goes home a winner-even the short yardage winners, sandbaggers and professional trapshooters. So, is that really all that bad and who not?
