We all saw TGV011 blast Brad Dysinger as a "has been". We saw Brad take the challenge.

The date time and format has to be decided. We have only seen one of them since the gloves hit the ice.

    Not a fight.

The way gentlemen used to do it in the sport of trapshooting. The last one I saw at the CC had 800 people watching. The stands were full. Standing room only.

2 old guys were shooting that nobody liked. Yet, it was a mardi gras like atmosphere. Lots of gambling, hooting and hollering.

When TGV001 got on here he has been belligerent to BRAD, Brad took him up on it, A repeat of ANOTHER CHALLENGE EVENT.
could be held during the OHIO STATE SHOOT to give time for advertising and money to be spent

I think one could be arranged at the Cardinal Center as a money for a charity's benefit for each shooters charity/ winning shooters charity gets the money. BRAD DYSINGER WILL CLEAN TGV'S CLOCK ROYALLY. Like big mouth BIG DON got his cleaned

IT IS IN GOOD CLEAN FUN WHERE TGV CAN PUT HIS EXPERTISE TO THE TEST AND BACK-UP HIS MOUTH.

The only reason anyone runs off of this site is by choice, not because the moderators ban them because of there speech or opinion and throw them off.. As far as I'm concerned anyone can say or think what they want to about me, but I can't respect someone who hides behind a handle, calls me names, then slinks away never to be heard from. I'll be the first to admit I'm not as good as I once was, but I might be good enough once . But we my never know. Brad

    Gary,

For the record, I am no longer a member of the OSTA Board of Directors. I was term limited after serving 3 consecutive 2 year terms (a limit that I fully support and agree with). Therefore I have no authority to set up a special event at the Cardinal. If both contestants agree to a match, and it is done to benefit a charity as the last one was, I would certainly volunteer to speak with the "powers in charge" to see if they would agree to allow a match to take place.

For what's its worth, I will offer this advise to anyone challenging Brad to shoot with a 20 ga in doubles or singles: I lost a perfectly good beer to Brad on a doubles bet, his old 20 ga Beretta auto against my 12 ga K80 with doubles "tuned" barrels (97 to 96). As for singles with his 20 ga, I came out on top, but I had to run the 200 to beat him. I believe Brad said that he might not be as good as he once was, but the old boy can still just plain shoot!

TGV011 Ah you say it wasn't me it was that guy over there behind the tree (blame him).
However you state it you use derogatory remarks and it seems that you have nothing but the derogatory remarks in your post on here. No point of view, no facts just slam the messenger.
Brad has drawn his opinion from being in and around the sport for many years, including the biggest years of ATA shooting to what it is now. Brad states his opinion and he stands with it whether you agree or not. Sometimes I agree with Brad and sometimes I don't, but we talk about how our opinions differ and even though we don't agree we still don't call each other derogatory names.
By the way what is your opinion and point of view on what you keep slamming Brad You must have something more than just(cry baby).

Also I would like to hear from you as what kind of a format you would like to have in a grudge match. The last one was a lot of fun and there was some money raised for charity.

Brad, Gary and all the rest are indeed "has beens" as to the best of my knowledge none are currently shooting ATA events. What else should they be called? I have no idea who TGV011 is, but I sure like his idea and his courage in accepting a challenge. Perhaps this could be a dual challenge, one held at the CC in grudge match form and the second half at the WSRC in the Clay Target Championship? My only comment regarding the CTC is that we would have to be mindful of the importance of that event to the other competitors. Spectators would not be allowed to "hoot and holler" for TGV or Brad out of respect for the other shooters.

TGV011 I used to think that winning my second clay target championship in a 400 bird shoot off was by far my best personal accomplishment, but then last year another proud MN shooter got to stuuder typing when calling me names and was pitched for a time from TS.Com. I've never seen proud and class B in the same sentence before, but I don't think beating you for $200 would replace either on my trap shooters top list, BUT, for 3 or 4 grand I could change my opinion. If at the CC in grudge match form it would be at least 3 hole equivalent angles. If at the WSRC the target setting would be the same as all other fields. My guess is 2 hole equivalent angles, but that is just a guess. I have shot at Sparta but I am not good enough to tell what angles were thrown.

Rich I think I did register a 100 hdps in 2013 or 2014, getting so old I don't remember. But I did win the Long Bird shoot 8 out of 9 weeks, that's a record for me. And I won the 5 from the pole w/4 dusted that last target hard at Charlies last Friday night. I think that counts as a 200 in singles targets as easy as they are. Oh and my partner and I won all our shootoffs on first round. We did get beat on the line, my borrowed gun w/release trigger was mis=firing. My gun is DEEP IN THE HEART OF TEXAS.

That part of your post in bold type is the whole thing in a nut shell for you right?

    SO WHAT?

People quit or cut way back for a lot of reasons. Money, family, time, health, a LOT of reasons. WTH does shooting just registered targets have to with talking about Trapshooting? That is what these sites are supposed to be about right?

    It's xxxx or ATS.com, NOT ATA.com

I know, after years of hearing it, that the standard answer to anyone that says anything about the ATA is the same one you see in bold print above. Well, some of us don't WANT to shoot registered targets ANY MORE. It's not that we can't, or they are too easy. The fact of it is when "we"(hasbeens) shot before "we"(hasbeens) could win enough to pay for at least the day. THAT is why "we"(hasbeens) shot. Those days are over. So be it. You guys go shoot them. Have fun, talk, eat, tell one another how good you are, make an "outing" of the day. Commune with nature. Be one with the target. I don't know, zen your way to a 100 straight.

Oh, one thing, before you say that since I answered this post I must put myself in with the GREAT Trapshooters, I don't. I couldn't even stay with these guys for a hundred. Well back then I couldn't. With todays targets, I don't know.

Here is a good example. AND THIS IS NOT BACK PATTING so don't get upset. The last time I shot a 16 yard line registered target was in 2012. Between 2000 and 2006. I shot at one event. That was in 2006. I broke 98. Whatever!
Nothing between that year and 2012. I shot 500 in 2012. I had a 99 the last shoot I went to. Again, Whatever!

My point? I'M NOT THAT GOOD!!!!!! Something helped.

It was a small shoot, as most are now a days, but there was still another 100. I talk to the few guys that shoot registered targets around my area and from what they tell me you can't swing a cat at one of the shoots without hitting someone that "ran em".

If I would have broken the 100 I would have won a little less than $20.00 C'mon, really $20.00? Now it wasn't a big shoot but why bother? "We"(hasbeens) remember when you could win something.

What if someone WAS shooting, say the minium number for high avg. in their state, or state teams, or was AA27AA and THEY thought the ATA screwed up by making the targets easier and yardage reduction extreme so they, the ATA, wouldn't lose members and REVENUE? That's the bottom line after all, the fear of lost revenue. Keep everyone in the fold. Keep em happy boys. As long as they are breaking targets and happy with themselves they will pay the dues and fees.

What do you, and the other, "it's not perfect but it's all we got" guys have to say to that shooter? The guy that is still shooting ATA at a high level and thinks they have screwed it up beyond repair.

    Just askin nicely

    Flyersarebest.

    Doc,

I've spent countless hours discussing trapshooting with Brad. Together we tried to restore, at lease at the Ohio State shoot, what we both feel has been stripped away from registered shooting and that is the excitement of shooting for money or big prizes. I'm sure if you asked Brad if he cares about shell speed or target angles, in and of themselves, he would tell you that he does not. What Brad cares about is the changes have CONTRIBUTED to the decline in shooting for money. Many on here will tell you that registered shooting is all about compitition purely for the sake of testing your skills against the best. I even had Jeff Wagner, then President of the ATA, tell me that the reason most shooters enter registered events is to accumulate All American points for recognition on an ATA All American Team (the single most asinine thing I've ever heard uttered from an ATA Exec). I must admit that I have met a couple such shooters. But for every "pure compitition" shooter I know, I know at least a 100 shooters that shoot for money.

The best way I can explain it is like this: What if they changed the rules in Texas Hold 'em to allow eight or nine up cards? Enough that most every pot would be chopped due to equal hands, so every player "wins" hands, but end up not winning money. How long do you think folks would continue to play that type of Texas Hold 'Em?

I know you want to believe that Brad wouldn't give his money to the ATA unless they change the rules back to the old ways, but for 3 or 4 grand he might change his opinion.

    Don

"All American points for recognition on an ATA All American Team" .....

Maybe "recognition" for some on the bottom of the 'team list' ..... but those on the top convert 'points' into shells, and use the shells for money. If you want premium shells for great prices .... buy some with your next trophy purchase.

It takes a special kind of rose-colored-glasses for the 'masses' to not see those at the top have only 'their' interest in mind.

Rich said, Brad, Gary and all the rest are indeed "has been's" as to the best of my knowledge none are currently shooting ATA events. Since I am probably considered part of "all the rest" maybe you should have said to the lack of my knowledge instead of "to the best of my knowledge".
I have shot every Grand American target that I have been eligible for at all of the Sparta Grands including the Champion of Champion even a couple of times.

Left out, you picked your handle and it says a lot "left out", but hang in there and maybe you can change it to "left in" down the road sometime.

In our area there are some former ATA shooters that still shoot very well. Does not shooting ATA automatically qualify them as "has been's"?

Dr.Longshot, I don't want my money to go to the ATA because of the EC. I don't really care about angle, shell speed, target distance, hundreds of All Americans, 2 yard reductions, ribbons for everyone personally. My point is that all of these things have hurt the Sport of Trapshooting. If this isn't the case how come the ATA has lost 70% of there members in the last 30 odd years?

As far as being an All American I really wanted to be one back when I started and liked making it, but the shooting public is kidding themselves in thinking all All Americans get free shells, free guns, free travel, ect. (the only way to guarantee that is to become an ATA zone vice president). In fact the best money years I had was in the late 90's and early 2000's when I was never on the ATA all american teams, I specialized in handicap for a few years, money turned out to be more rewarding than a piece of felt.

I received free shells at one time or other from Remington, Federal, and Winchester but I got in a huff in 1995 and never asked for or got another free shell. The cost of ammo back then was nothing compared to what I could win in a handicap. In fact at the Ohio State shoot in Vandalia one year I shot a different brand shell on all four traps, one Remington, one Federal, one Winchester, and one wally world Wal Mart (fed brand) on I won the preliminary handicap with a 98, my point was it wasn't the arrow or bow it's the Indian. In fact not shooting for just one company gave me the freedom to shoot what was ever the best brand at the time. I think not getting the free stuff helped me.

What I said was "why to we have to bow down to has-beens". I don't care what your "past" accomplishments were - none of you; What are you doing now to promote this sport? And as far as "My Lord Dysinger" goes, I had an acquaintance call me from CC and tell me "guess what, I got to meet and shake hands with Brad Dysinger today". I wonder if he's washed that hand yet. Like it not, ATA is what we have and it will succeed or the sport will die. If you don't support it, then shut the *%^# up and just go back to the fake pheasant hunting.

ALL ... All Americans DO NOT get free 'stuff' ... just those at the top.

And .... ALL All Americans do NOT sell lessons, trophies (mainly leather products), and some of their shells, to the people they only see as a meal ticket. Ask one after a 'clinic' ..... "what did you think of 'old-bubba' over there", and see how respectful the answer is.

An ATA membership for many of those who no longer have one, was simply a requirement to participate in some events to try to win a little money. Yes, a little .... a 25, or 50, and on a very rare day a win, was more profitable than all day at a local club.

The ATA refuses to accept they were just a requirement, and nothing more to many past members.

Actually, the number 26 represented the number of time Dysinger used the word "I" in his four posts in this thread. The funny part is that two of the first three words he posted in this thread were the word "I". I didn't even count the me's and my's.

Rich, you' re a little testy today. ATA is not "what we got". There is PITA, International (Olympic, pit) games, money shoots, live birds, behind the barn all forms of trap shooting. (I} have shot all of these at one time or another. (I) spent nine years promoting ATA trap shooting by first being on the OSTA BOD then as tournament director of the Cardinal shoots for a few years.

(I} really hoped that by showing the EC how to run a successful large trap shoot, that had the shooters in mind, they would see the error of there ways and stop the train wreck that the ATA has become. It didn't work, (I) could no longer in good conscious promote something that (I) didn't believe in so (I) quit. Now just because (I) quit it doesn't mean (I) don't still care what becomes of trapshooting or forfeit my right to my opinion.

There are trap shooters that (I) don't like but do respect and ones that (I) like but don't respect, one is given and one earned. Ranting and raving will not advance your argument at all. (I) do agree with you that the registered big tournament part of the sport will die if the ATA doesn't succeed, they are supposed to be the keepers of the flame, but what makes you think anything they are doing now will accomplish that?

    (I) predicted what would happen to the ATA when they moved to Sparta, and, (I) have been proven right. You shouldn't be mad at (me?) for being right you should be smart enough to pay attention just a tiny bit. The current future of clay target shooting is not ATA, it is small member clubs shooting 10 and 50 bird programs. There are 4 clubs within twenty miles of (my?) house here in NW Ohio that rotate shoots every Sunday of the month. Continental the 1st Sunday, Cloverdale 2nd, Paulding 3rd, Leipsic 4th and then they rotate a 5th. These non ATA shoots have between 10 and 25 squads shooting for Lewis class prizes. MEAT mostly. This is in the winter, in Ohio weather. Many ATA state shoots aren't that large.

The clubs (I) mention are far from unique, all over PA, Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, clubs like these exist. These clubs were the breeding grounds for ATA targets when the large tournament had money, we shot the little shoots for fun and money and registered for money. That is what (I) grew up doing, it's just the way it was, and there were a whole lot more of (us?) then than there are of YOU now.

The EC is an arrogant bunch of never were's, who (I) both don't like or respect. The death of registered shooting is not on (my) head it's on THEIRS. Brad

OK, this is my take on the ATA.

I have just joined the ATA again after a 13 year vacation, from which I shot very little prior anyway. Back then I was just getting serious about trapshooting. The reason I joined again was to shoot the State Shoot on the new Wisconsin Grounds. I now, and since then, shoot league, and weekend money shoots to which I am satisfied with, as they are fun, and the socializing at the ten or so clubs I shoot at with most of the traveling shooters, is great also.

From talking to some of the older shooters about the ATA shoots, they bring up the fact that you could make some serious money at these shoots, which would make traveling to the bigger shoots more lucrative, along with the local ATA events. One even stated that back then you bought a gun for $200 and you could make $10,000, now you pay $10,000 for a gun and maybe make $200.

Anyway it seems that back then it was a good thing to get your required rounds in to qualify for the bigger shoots by establishing averages, because it was worth that extra cost. Now, it seems like a waste of money to have to shoot all of those extra targets to do this, when the return is not there. The way I see it, you are better off just taking the penalties and going to these larger ATA events, and shooting those events where they put you. What I also see as the problem is, you have to run them if you want any chance at making some decent money, and even then you will be in a shoot-off more than likely, with the same, "Big Dogs". Playing the Lewis will get you minimal amounts equivalent of these local weekend shoots I talk about. All at half the cost minimum, not including travel costs, hotels, food, etc.

So if you look at this from that perspective, I think the only thing keeping the ATA alive is the prestige of what it once was, and the required joining of the ATA to shoot the State Shoots, and other larger shoots. I think the average shooter is happy with the local league, and weekend money shoots to satisfy their competitive needs, along with minimal costs.

I understand the need for the ATA both Nationally, and State to support the future of trapshooting, but the costs involved for this to these new and upcoming young shooters, high school for instance, is getting to the point where only a few will shoot the ATA events on a regular basis, otherwise take the penalties, and just shoot the State shoot, and that is it.

First I want to say that over the years the ATA has been a big part of my trapshooting career, and I still shoot ATA.
Over the last several years the ATA membership has decreased by over half and the ATA is not the dominant center piece of trapshooting like it may have been in the past. Many of the former members did not quit shooting, but they quit travelling and are shooting one or two days a week close to home. As long as people have guns the sport of trapshooting will survive. The question is can the ATA reverse the trend of recent years and decisions and again expand and flourish, and I hope they can.
Sometimes I even question myself as to why I still shoot registered, but I like it and if my health and funds holdout I still have some goals that I hope to reach.

Trapshooting is not just registered ATA shooting. Shooters should not be looked down on because they don't shoot registered. They should be applauded for shooting trap.

I have been around trap shooting longer than I really care to admit and my personal observation is :

I watched many shooters over the early years, Dysinger, Kiner, O'haye, Stafford, Harrison III, and on and on etc ...
If Shooters the caliber of Brad Dysinger would of continued shooting over the years he (they) would be on the "Top Gun" list right beside Kiner, Stafford, Marshall, and so on etc ... To challenge these guys is maybe something you might have on your bucket list but you probably won't beat them ... To argue about certain things is stupid and meaningless which can prove nothing in the end ... If you do beat him, he was still one of the Top Guns, an All American, and in the Hall of Fame and proved it by being what he was and or maybe still is and you are not ... If he beats you he has nothing to gain, he is supposed to beat you because he was a "Top Gun" an All American and in the Hall of Fame ... Argue if you must but do yourself a favor and don't put your money up there because you will probably lose it ... Been there and done that ... wpt ... (yac) ...

This is based strickly on my own opinion and experience, nothing more ...

    Excellent post Stl Flyn
In my opinion, all this rhetoric and name calling is pointless.... The only real "has been" in trapshooting is the ATA.... Brad, Dave, Stafford, Orlich, Harrison, Bonillas, and the rest of the un-named real "best of the best" shooters were fortunate to have shot in bygone days that will never return. Registered ATA trapshooting will never be what it once was. There are far too many reasons for the decline, but, we could start with going from 3 hole to two hole targets, throwing soft targets, and much, much more. Just pick a reason and add it to the list. I shot ATA targets for a short time, but soon realized the EC only had their own agenda, and not what was best for the shooter. I quit shooting them rather than support them. I'm in Brads corner 100%, and applaud his courage in standing up for his beliefs, and not backing down. It's way too easy these days to waffle on ones stand depending on which way the wind blows. Brad Dysinger does not...

I gave up on registered ATA shooting for reasons listed above, what have I been doing the last few years? Shooting buddies, annies, miss & outs, pole shoots, longshot pots, and a large $5 54 card draw w/2jokers.takes a joker to win. I shoot and win enough buddies and combinations of the above to pay for my nights shooting, enter the above draw pot, and have gas money left, I usually make a little money.

I enjoy the Trapshooting with many friends doing the same thing every Thursday and Friday night.

This is the way registered shooting started.
To get a permanent card you had to register 500 singles-500 Hdcp-500 doubles, it was this way for years, then you had to have 1,000 each over a 3 year period, if I remember right, then after a while it went to 1,000 of each in the current target year, I shot a lot then and that did not bother me, but it did for the new shooter, and that was the start of the drain, it kept piling up, the killer was 1,000 each in the current target year, that took a long time for a new shooter to get in the necessary targets to shoot the GRAND at no penalty, as well as your STATE shoot. ATA kept adding targets that had to be registered in a certain time frame, it became a rich man's game, in I would guess 20-30 years,

Help me here Brad and Dave clarify what I am trying to say?

The post above (Gary) has my feelings.

When they raised the target count to 1000; first big mistake in my opinion,
I dropped out for about 15 years and never did get caught up.
I figured penalty yardage was OK with me if I have to shoot it. Regards......Gerald

So lets see if I have this right.

All I have to do to have a “grudge match” at the Cardinal Center is to call Dysinger a “has been” and that’s it?

The very first time I met him I called him worse then that during a “spirited debate” we had regarding an issue at the Buckeye. I walked away from that discussion thinking “I really like that guy, he handled himself well.” Like him or despise him, he never waivers from his beliefs and backs most if not all up with facts (numbers) that are hard to ignore.

Would I like to shoot against him? You bet. Would he kick my ass? Most assuredly! But I like to think I have a punchers chance. And I bet there are a lot of other guys out there that feel the same way.

I smell opportunity. How much is it worth to be able to sit around a table down at your club with your shooting cronies telling them about the time you kicked an “All American’s” ass at the Cardinal. Or better yet, if your part of the (Ohio vs. Illinois, Sparta vs. CC) warriors not only will you have beaten an All American, you will have bested that SOB Dysinger! Think of it as a “dunking booth” with guns.

Having a grudge match is fine. But why just one? I am sure there are a lot of guys that would like “a piece” of Brad’s hide. Why not line them up and have at it. I am quite certain many would pay for the chance. I know I would. And I think the spectators would love the show all the while the charity is raking it in. Dysinger on a squad with four guys trying to knock him off. Get Brad to shoot 100 targets and that equals 16 paid shooters after his scalp.

And all I have to do is insult Brad to get my ticket punched?

Well here goes: Dysinger, you ignorant slut. Your dogs can’t hunt and you wear Beretta thong undies.

And after I am done with him, Berlet............. you’re next! ;)

Brad it doesn't become you to make fun of a "proud B shooter". Not everyone can be AA. Where would the sport be without them and don't they have a right to be proud of their accomplishment like you are of yours. It's bad enough when your classless friends jump on him. It's sad to see some of the best shooter become so discontent with the ATA they run it down publicly. I'm sure there are many more of the better shooters who have the same thoughts but have the grace to discuss it among themselves.

And as far as the "grudge" match between Dysinger and TGVO11 goes I'll say this,

Lets make it a 4 some at the Grand in SPARTA. Although I've never been to Sparta I will go and take on Dr. Longshot. Same conditions as TGVO11 challenged Dysinger with.

No go unless all 4 agree!

Now, I usually don't hold a grudge BUT.

At the 1978 Clay Target Championship, that would be the Grand in VANDALIA buy the way, for all you guys that never saw it. I broke a 196 or 197. Can't really remember. Doesn't matter though. This "kid" comes along, with the hat turned backwards and shooting that beat up Model 12, I think, and ruined my day by winning the event. Pissed me right off.

I ain't never forgot that Dysinger! I tried as hard as I could and you luck out and get in some kind of shoot off or something. I SHOULD HAVE WON THAT EVENT. THAT TROPHY IS MINE!!!

Hey, I'll tell you what. If I can make it to the CC , you bring that that trophy and we will shoot for it.

What grudge? 37 years isn't that long

But I thought it completely crossed the line when the ATA included the following magazine in their "Shooters Welcome Packett" that was given to all who registered at the 2010 Grand in Sparta. This blatant and vicious attempt to discredit your criticisms regarding that governing body is still considered one of the low points in American Journalism history!

Doc, That Illinois mag is definitely a fake, I would not, I repeat I would not let my picture be taken with the EC. As for the second I can't blame the EC all that much if in 2010 they didn't see what was coming (even though when you read my article's you see that I did). I'm sure they based there opinions off all the rosy articles written by the likes of GreenTitian, Big Don, Hunter44, and those other Sooth Sayers from the build it and they will come crowd. Just look how it's worked out.

Doc also since you seem to be a collector do you have the CC addition, they were all sold out that last I knew. Too much demand I heard. Brad

Leonidas whom ever you may be.The home of the Grudge Match is the Cardinal Center. Also as stated around the trapshooting world the good Doc accepted the original challenge and he came, he saw, and he conquered. He retired as the undisputed, undefeated Grudge Match Champion.

You are sounding a lot like Fla La La trying to weasel in on a grudge match and even having the audacity to try to move it from it's home. The Cardinal is the home of the original Grudge Match. If you want a tag team challenge get a name for it,find a location for it, and go for it. To perform on center stage at the Cardinal Center you might even have to go thru some qualification matches.

You must remember Big Don and Dr Longshot are forever etched in the fame and the glory and the history of the Grudge Match and nothing should be done to diminish this.

The BIGDON - dr longshot grudge match was a grudge match between those two. All that match did was show that breaking more birds still didn't enhance the personality of the perceived winner.

Like the Grand the grudge match needs to be moved from Ohio to a location that is more centered geographly for the masses. After all it's the masses that support the ATA.

How does a person "weasel" on a match when there was no response from the challenged.

I did find a location, SPARTA.
