After learning the ATA delegates may have blindly voted to donate $250K to donate a building to the State of Illinois only one delegate has had something to say on the issue.

    Where are the other delegates?

As to Lew.... thanks for showing up. You get an atta boy. ;)

The one who showed up and got an "Atta, Boy."

Any information on the general contractor who built the building?

I can't figure out who, "Lew", the delegate might be? Any hints? If it's the man I'm thinking of, he certainly isn't a delegate!

I think it is a good looking building.
It will fit in nicely with the Event center and Shell House.

I hope we get to enjoy it for a lot of years.

You can get a lot of strippers in that joint!

I would say with all of the overhead doors it looks like it could be used for several things, not just the HOF ... The door can accomidate stages for the strippers, and bands, a display for the Demo Derby cars and drivers, a private section for the EC and BOD to hide from the members and relax with their own rest room facilitys and a big screen TV ... There could be one section for them to park their cars, to open up parking for a few others who might really need the handicap zone ... The Good Ol' Boys club could have a section for plaques and other needed momento's to make them feel like they really are Big Shots ... Then again they can use part of it to store the traps in 10 months of the year while not in use if the ATA gets them to agree to a two month per year lease ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

I think your looking at the wrong photo wpt. The top one is the HOF building.

I copied these from the THOF website during construction. The first is the first week of October 2014.

This one below I saved from December 2, 2014.

It does have a "farm building" look to it. Guess the committee that decided on that design figured it would fit in with the area.

20 pre-fab forms and lots of pre-fab walls.

They slap those things up in a hurry. Is this slab, or was a proper basement foundation dug, ramps and garage door installed so the building could be used for storage?

Before I started saving pictures on the progress, I'm pretty sure all I saw was a huge concrete slab. No basement.

Back when the discussion revolved around the Trapshooting Hall of Fame owning the building and securing an agreement that the IDNR would purchase the building if the THOF ever had to leave, it was suggested that they consider a building that could be dismantled and moved. This building is not going anywhere.

First thing I thought of was the barns we had for the horses at Finger Lakes Race Track in NY.

I just didn't understand the design being so high, with all the possible storms they get out there.

And what is the object of having an open air roof over half of the porch ???

That one has me baffled (no pun intended) also !

Thanks for saving the construction pictures HB.

    History Buff,

Does this building have a second story to it ? I am serious with this question.

It appears like it may have.

That would provide plenty of sleeping space for Delegates and EC until it get's full of artifacts. ;)

    Brad's friend (I hope),

I honestly don't know. I have not seen any plans for the building and would have thought there would be more information about it on the THOF website. Details are few and the one's I've learned of I had to ask for.

My original post was to lure a responsible delegate to the forefront. Of course all had the opportunity to laugh at my expense for misunderstanding Lew was a delegate. Funny!

I was trying to find an "out" or plausible deniability for the delegates. I have failed in that endeavor.

It was a good post. Good fun for sure.

I have said it before and I will say it again.

When it came to the 250K, I believe the Delegates went in with their eyes wide open. JMHO

The building with all the doors looks like it would have been a better choice, that way the articles from the HOF could be loaded quickly for a fast getaway if the need should arise!

Back to the original post. Has anyone heard from their delegate? I can't say I have heard from mine!

I have not heard from last year's delegate, assistant delegate, new delegate or OSTA President. The only person that wants to talk so far is Dan Lukanic. Kudos to Dan.

Did he say he knew the HOF building was owned by the State of IL. Did he vote to make the donation to IL?

I feel our pain FG. Many in the ATA ranks answer to no one. Lukanic will be a good one.
