I've had two laminectomies on the l4-l5 area of the back--looks like I'm in for the big one now-l5-s1 Has anyone had any work done on the l5-s1 area--my disc has shifted and I got a vacumn on the left side in the space that was occupied by the disc Getting second opinion ,actually a 3rd opinion on the 28th
As, I previously mentioned my wife broke her femur--when we went for her final check up. I asked her surgeon, if he had the same back problem I have--who he would use--can't get a better recommendation than that
Hope all turns out well, Sir! I'm scheduled August 18th for laminectomies of L2-L3, L3-L4, L4-L5, and L5-S1. The orthopedic surgeon told me I needed a neurosurgeon, so like you, I asked who he would use if it were him. If anyone calls me "spineless," they will be partially correct.
Met up with my neuro-surgeon on Mon-28th, he and a cardio -thorasic surgeon will be doing the initial surgery on July 22, and a second surgery on the 23rd-- the cardio surge is the guy who will make the access for my neuro-surgeon--also, work will be between l2-s1, just like your job Had laminectomies in the past--after this I will be at least 1" taller
Surgery dates have been change to Aug 12 & 13 & the procedure will now go between L1 & S1-it ain't gonna be fun
There will be two surgeons working on me the first day, a cardio-thoracic surge will be clearing the way for the neuro to do L1-L5 with a robot, day two the euro will work on L5-S1
Well, the new Covid strain, is rampant in Fl. where I live, my surgery was postponed--No room @ the inn, the hospitals in my area are at capacity, back on my Meloxicam, at least I can walk with the anti-inflamitory
The surgery hasn't happened yet, waiting for covid to slack, so my doc can get me into the hospital Thanx again guys
Happy to report I survived my surgery of 8/18. ...Had laminectomies of L2-L3, L3-L4, L4-L5, & L5-S1. ...Have an 8" incision with 37 staples. ...I was up & walking 17 hours after surgery. ...I was supposed to spend 1 night in the hospital, but there was a lot of drainage (blood), so an extra night was added to prevent complications. ...Pre-surgery pain is gone! ....Only discomfort at incision. ...No pain killers needed - Tylenol only. ...I try to walk 1/4-1/2 mile each day (weather permitting). Phil: Sorry to hear your surgery was postponed.
Happy to hear you're doing well, that's one big incision for laminectomies, when I had mine L4-L5, 3/4" incision
Just got an update from my surgeon, looks like I'm good to get my tune ups Oct 14-15--It will be a pain in the ass for a few months, but it will be way better in the long run
get my "new" back tomorrow & Fri--hope all goes well, this way my wife won't really know what I paid for my guns & ammo
BE PATIENT, You didn't mess it up in one day don't expect to have it fixed in one day. Just do what your doctor and follow your theropist tells you, Roger C.
Two weeks and counting still in rehab--most likely wouldn't be shooting for a year/--wheelchair here I come
Good luck old man ! Been a year this week that they Gutted me, and I still don't tempt fate by going down to the fields, even to help score. Tooooo tempting. When I pull up that gun it still feels like a 25 # bag of shot hanging on the end of it, and really pulls on my little tummy (LOL). So, I guess they meant what they said. Sort of don't miss the 10 dollar a round trap though, but wish since our covid we would get our smell and taste back so I could pool the savings from not shooting and go out to a delicious dinner that i could taste. LOL Been busier than you can believe so not much time for anything else. Take it easy, pay attention to the Docs, and especially your caregiving wife !
Good luck 635 still don't have full strength back since cancer 2 yrs. ago. I'm still going to Tucson and shoot Gotta shoot while I can
