ttt The Sousa let me down, it should have broken another target to qualify for the Nostalgia Shoot here in Sparta.
As I posted, I believe that Ithaca did the work. Turnbull did not do it and Diamond Gunsmithing could not have done it. I also believe that McGraw did the engraving. I have not seen his signature. There are resemblances of his work as on a signed 5E I own. I shot this gun today in the singles event at the Cardinal Center and enjoyed doing this more than any event I've shot this year. I am not going to brag about my score! Nick
Just to put in my 2 cents I believe Nick is correct.McGraw was Ithaca’s in house engraver in this era and did all there high grade guns.He very seldom sighed his work. And for refinishing stain and case color looks correct.Later sometime around the 70s Ithaca case color process changed when this gun was probably redone. At this time they would still take in guns for refinishing.if it was my gun how else would you trust with a gun like this if they could do it.My friend Walt Snyder might have some input on the gun if he looks at sight.
Not common for a Knick of this age and grade to not to be signed. McGraw is likely the engraver. My comment is based on a personal 4E of similar vintage that is signed by McGraw, but no signature on a Sousa Grade is unusual. GLWS
