I went up to Macadoo Ridge for a marathon. We were told to keep our own score and let the desk know what our scores were. Needless to say we just shot practice that day instead of registering our targets. The next year the WV state shoot was moved to Va.
I can think of 3 people that loved that, “Let us know what your score was” system. Years and years ago I shot at many events where 2 of these jokers attended. I knew who they were, and they knew me. One of these 2 must have really loved the "Self Service" scoring system. He registered FOUR 100 straights in the same day. In FEBRUARY!!!!! You ever been to WV in FEBRUARY? I guess Self SERVING would be more appropriate. The second guy won a pretty big shoot out West one year. Well, he kinda won it. The problem was, he switched cards with a short yardage shooter and then GOT CAUGHT when Leo Cerar saw his picture in Trap & Field and called the ata. LOL I never shot against the third guy, their buddy. He wasn't even born yet. He must have been really good though because a few years ago he won the GAH From the 18 yard line. Yep, those 3 really liked that system they had in place.
The place had an iconic background. Shooting at the sky and oddly close high voltage lines. You had to walk past the sign that boasted the Stefkovich Championship.
