Dear White Flyer Distributor, Demand for raw materials in the U.S. has increased drastically in the past month, which naturally increased prices and reduced availability heading into the second quarter of 2022. Inflation at a 40 year high, increased supply chain issues, along with the addition of the Russia/Ukraine war, costing on almost all raw materials has become unbearable around the world. The White Flyer team has worked extremely hard securing raw materials in order to have product available to our customers without delay. Effective at the end of business today, April 8, 2022, pricing on all Blackout and Pitch targets will increase $1.55 per case. White Flyer will honor all pricing for orders on the White Flyer books prior to today’s letter and shipping before May 9, 2022. All new orders and orders currently on the books but scheduled to ship on May 9, 2022 and thereafter will have the new pricing. To further clarify, this increase does apply to national, state and regional event orders. Please note that orders scheduled to ship on May 9, 2022 or later can be rescheduled to ship earlier if product and trucking is available, however they will be at the new pricing. Due to the volatility of raw material pricing, White Flyer Targets finds it necessary to reduce the number of days that we can guarantee pricing. Effective at the end of business today, April 8, 2022, pricing for all new orders and orders currently on the books shipping after May 8, 2022 will be guaranteed for ten business days. Thank you for your dedication to White Flyer while we navigate through these challenging times. Rest assured we are exploring every avenue to keep increases to a minimum while maintaining the highest quality target our customers have grown to know and demand. Should you have any questions please contact myself or your Regional Sales Manager. Sincerely, Robert Crow National Sales Director. So now we will have a other hand in our pocket. How will your club handle this latest price increase. Will the State shoots have to charge more?
The increase, will increase, a round of 25 targets per shooter $0.31 each. $1.24 increase per shooter. Raise targets $1.25 per 100 to cover your costs. Roger C.
Roger, Add it all up.$50 for shot.$60 for a thousand primers $40 a pound for powder and $8 dollars plus for a box of shells Plus add in $4 dollar gasoline and a lot of shooters will just shoot less. Most gun clubs have a fixed amount that they have to pay every month like electric, heat ,taxes, trap help and maintaining the grounds.Targets in the air pay the bills and help keep us solvent. We hear a lot of static when we raised the price 50 cents because of the last target price increase. Only time will tell. Our club president keeps a very close eye on the club finances and targets thrown plus how many shooters show up year after year.A lot of our members are retired and are on a fixed income and the Biden inflation isn’t helping matters any.
White Flyer hasn’t created the problem. Have there been meetings between the delegates to ask White Flyer to design targets that would be cheaper? Maybe smaller? Have the delegates discussed changing the programs? Shorter but more challenging? With all these problems, how often have the delegates met to meet these challenges?
Another thing that I forgot to mention is that we shoot one ATA shoots month, and we use 3S software and they have raised their prices to use their software for each shoot and each shooter.. Just another hand in the crowded pocket. It is a good thing we are a non profit organization and a volunteer club. Out only payroll is the trap help..
1.55/case increase if a club raises their shooting 1.00/round that is 5.00 more per case they are getting. 3.45/case more profit should pay for their next load of target if they keep going up.
Non members are paying $11.00 a round for practice at Tucson T&S . members pay $9.00 a round. Inflation is running wild, and if the midterms election does not change the government. we are doomed. Roger C. PS Thank you Joe and the socialistic democratic party and the idiots that elected them.
If we were charging $ 9 or $11 dollars we would have a lot of members playing checkers or cards on Wednesday and Saturday. We would also have a. Very short membership list next year. With all of the price increases I don't think trap shooting will ever be the same.
Trap shooting is going back to a rich mans sport. The average Joe will be trying to feed his or her family, not shooting clay targets. It was great while it lasted, but it had a much to short of a run. Roger C.
My guess is the 10% who have unlimited funds will continue to shoot ATA trap like they've always done. The rest of us will hang it up or limit the shooting. Will that be enough to bring prices down? I don't think so. As a company, once you become used to making X on product Y, It's awfully hard to accept making less than X.........
I had a customer in today we can relate to. His club had a meeting last night and brought up the latest price increase. They decided to raise their prices up to $4 for members and $5 for non-members. Some members protested and suggested a .50 increase instead. The guys who complained the most were the high-end gun shooters while the Remington 870 crowd was silent. Our conversation got pretty interesting.
LCH, My guess is the 90% percent will still shoot, but not registered leagues and meat shoots. Club shoots will get more popular again. Roger C.
There is not much a target company can do about raw cost. I'm just wondering how many clay targets they have actually sold over the last couple of years? You gotta have shotgun shells to shoot at clay targets. I ask because there was a stack of cases of clay targets that sat in the local Wally World untouched for months. I know because I was going into that store looking for shotgun shells a couple of times a week. I noticed one particular case that had a rather unique tear in the case, that exact case never moved for months. I asked the Wally guy in the sporting goods section if he was selling any clay targets. His reply was NO, or more exact - Hell No. According to this Wally employee the local guys with the hand throwers shooting in the corn fields used to come in and buy a 4 box value pack and then grab a 90 bird case of clays. But since there were no shells to buy no need to buy clays. So I'm sure the last thing the clay target manufacturers wanted to do was raise prices. Inflation getting out of control. Walmart had watermelons for $9.75 EACH, the other day. Are you effing kidding?? Local nursey is charging $4.98 for 1 (ONE) SMALL tomato plant. 1 LB of sweet corn seed is $50 at local farm store. WTF??? Let's go Brandon.
Too bad Elon Musk is not a trapshooter! He'd figure out how to make targets out of moon dust and ship back to earth cheaper then what they are now.
You ask how? Easy, he would find some suckers that would pay a modest fee of $50, 000,000 each to ride up there and pack moon dust.
What is the cost of a case of targets when buying a truck load? White Flyer, seems to be the leader, How about some of the other mfgr's? Roger C.
Sad state of affairs we are in. Costs will NOT come down & Roger is right, our small local “volunteer” ran clubs will become popular. A lot of us will be slowing down that’s for sure. Good luck to us all.
