The Sporting as well as the field stocks DO have shims. The 302 and 303 are the same. The Trap stocks DO NOT have shims. eBay and search 302 Beretta also Jeff's Outfitters Cape Gireardeau, Mo.
The al1,2,3 301,302,303 field, skeet and 303 sporting guns use a stock position plate in the rear of the stock.Trap guns have a flat round retaining washer. If you replace a stock position plate according to the factory manual you will need to sand or remove wood at the receiver end of the stock to allow for the different angle of fit caused by a different numbered stock position plate.Without a proper re-fit you will not change the angle of pitch but will bend the action spring tube and can cause splitting of the stock. There is no stock shim for these Beretta models.
Thanks Reyper! It's just as I stated above. They do not adjust for Cast however they are for the drop at comb. Were available in 45, 50, 55, 60 MM. the Browning B80 used the same identical type washers. As I said the trap Stocks didn't have this feature.
Two field AL2's I have are outfitted with 60mm plates, a 20ga 303 has a 55mm, and as stated the Trap AL2 does not use them. They're pretty simple devices, I picked up a strip of steel stock and will make one for one of the AL2's to get the stock up higher. As noted here, the stock has to then be fitted---that's where you can use makeshift shims to determine how much alteration the stock/receiver junction will require. A slice of shotgun hull could be a starting place, slip it between the bottom at the stock/receiver contact point to see how close that is. You could even use epoxy to make the change.
Cole's did not have the #45, they even called Italy. Had them do an adjustable comb. Thanks for all your help and information.
