I’m just starting to go through the process of loading my first 16 ga hulls. A benefactor provided me with three different brand hulls and some wads. I chose the Remington hulls to reload first because they have an 8 point crimp and the crimp starter in my reloader is for 8 point hulls.

As I began the process I noticed what looked like brass shavings on the reloader at the deprime/resize station. The Remington hulls are apparently steel based with a brass coating. I don’t reload steel based hulls as a rule after having been advised not to shoot them in some of my guns.

I can’t determine if the base of the hulls are being overworked or not. I am awaiting a new (to me) 16 ga gun and will see if the loads will chamber properly. 7F4674F0-01E7-43A9-BB78-4319B2B0E32A.jpeg

I use the same setup and hulls. I do get some shaving of brass washed steel on the first reload, but its nothing to worry about. There might be an adjustment on the sizer shaft to minimize. Your pics looks like more than I get. Might be in manual.

If you want to avoid resize problems go with a supersizer from mec
Sizes any 27 ga with no problem. Fast also. That way you can take the sizer ring off the loader and just knock the primer out.
