At the Autumn Grand. Shells and practice rounds are both $11.00. So, $22.00 to shoot a round of practice. I know costs are up, yadda, but if this becomes the norm, won't it drive a lot of shooters to other sports?
shotgunning has always been an elitest sport. The 60s/70s our overlords let too much $ get to us, so the common man could feed his family on one job, and still shoot. They have realized their error and are making a correction.
This will be the death of our sport. I don't consider myself an elitist but yet could still manage to shoot about 15,000 rounds a year. But not at these prices, you can't hardly even save by reloading.
Even $9 a round for practice targets is twice what most of us are used to paying. And $10/box target loads are twice what most of us are used to paying. If my situation is any indication, it just means most of us will be shooting half as many targets as we did pre-Cove/pre-Biden.
Member targets at our club are $5 a round. Shells are $9 for members $10 for non-members……well for now anyway
Ljutic329, WRONG practice was $11.00 for none members. How many shooters that were from out of state do you think were members? Roger C.
$42.00 per 100 targets, $38.40 for shells. $5.00 shooting fees.= $85.40 For first 100 targets shot. $160.80 next two events = $266.20 for the day of shooting. That is out of the reach for a man with a wife two kids and a house and car payment. Still wonder where our members have gone? Roger C.
Our local clubs that shoot 50 bird meat shoots have been holding up well but some shooters are saying that they are about out of reloads so I don't know how next year will be.
Heck, even $9.00 for members seems pretty steep. Around here, targets have gone up from around $5 to around $6 per round.
Wow ! I guess we have it good at our club..$3.00 practice members....$4.50 non-members (going up Jan 1st .50 ) .
Tucson will soon price themselves out of business in my opinion. 9.00 for practice targets? Total bullshit along with 47.00 targets 122.00 to stay at the Casino del Sol plus the driving distance and food. Good luck Tucson Trap and Skeet.
THEY ARE NOT VERY USER FRIENDLY. If you win a trophy on the sunday of champion day, they will not ship it to you. If you play the Martin lewis option you will not get a payoff sheet, no way to see what scores paid and how much. or if you were missed. They never have enough help to keep the shoot running smooth, to many interuptions. They ran off all of the local shooters. sad but true. Roger C.
I also noticed on the east end on 2 of the used to be practice traps, they have set up ZZ bird so we got to pay for that also.
They should move one of them, no club was supposed to have more than one grand event. The Autumn Grand should be moved to Nevada. Roger C.
Bill tried to make it a good club. He could not make the club have good people in charge. Remember every action has a reaction. Roger C,
You can bet your azz I'll not even be paying 9.00 next trip. I'll do my practice when we shoot. Things are getting out of hand out there regarding their pricing. They cut their labor back to almost nothing for the practice traps. You had to hunt someone down to shoot practice. Same old story, we pay for the sporting machines and their overhead along with the ZZ fields.
Why would you be afraid to ask ? If the Trap shooters are paying for the Sporting a round (100 targets) would have to be less than $44 .
Because I don't really care . Seems like a lot of folks feel that trap shooters are supporting sporting shooters . But in most cases research shows that , now days , it's the other way around . I.E. - 4 rounds of practice trap @ $11 a round would be $44 . So a 100 bird round of sporting would have to be less if the trap shooters are supporting the sporting shooters right ?
anyone up for 12.00 for a game for skeet or trap at bass pro cedar lodge mo? good news is you can bring your own shells. lol. hey but seriously...you can eat off the grounds and shoot from hand laid stone traps. that hull i dropped was gone in 5 seconds after the pic was taken. if you want to do the s.clays course, hold on to your hats or in this case your wallets. .
It's .40 per target for members sporting clays, .45 for non members. I believe 8% is added for look targets and breakage. I was told by a reliable source that practice trap targets are thrown at the members price for both Grands, which now $9.
Some one didn't tell the help at the club. they were charging $11.00 if you were not a member. Roger C.
I don't think it will take three years. Every hunter that has came through Thorn Bottom this year has mentioned the ammo shortage. These guys for the most part aren't target shooters and they can't find even one box to hunt with. I have a limit of one box per hunter because I don't know when or if I'll be able to replace any ammo I sell. The hunters are shooting worse than normal too because they have no ammo to practice with. Normally I hear shooting all around at this time of year but for the last 2 Thanksgivings hardly any shooting at all. I can't see how an ATA week of registered shooting can happen with any regularity anymore. Also no reloading supplies to speak of and very expensive ammo if you do find it. Let's Go Brandon
