The wholesale 2 yard, yardage reductions that were given twice w/o consulting the state delegates of each state, or taking a vote from them on the reductions, what was the result of it in your opinion, GOOD - BAD or should not have been done and why? Should have all state delegates been consulted before any change & voted on the change. In your own personal opinion what happened as the result of the change?
for me it sucked, I took the reductions, and can't get off the 18 yard line, until I win, which is tough with all the kids beating an old man. and worse, they young ones don't all way move the microphone for grandpa [ME]
You can get off the 18 yd line anytime you want by simply telling ATA you want to go back - in fact you can request a move all the way back to the 25. My opinion Gary? No one should be shooting from less than 20 yds; but if you (meaning YOU) are currently shooting ATA Hcp, are competitive, and have somehow been wronged by someone taking advantage of a 2yd reduction, well boo-hoo. Get over it. You were offered the same 2 yds.
Same as Hunter. I also find getting on a squad difficult unless you show up at the crack of dawn or sign up in advance. A shooter friend of mine was so fed up he wrote the ATA and got his old yardage back. I would gladly take an additional yard or two tacked on my old yardage to get off the 18 yd. line. The ATA should have left things as they were. Regards......Gerald
Rich I took the 2 -2yard reductions, Why: I was on yardage hold twice because of wins, so when they offered and every one else was taking them, why should I not take the reduction, even though it was NOT APPROVED BT DELEGATES it was EC decision to do it on their own
Those two yardage reductions were given by our EC without delegate approval. Our delegates turned them down the first time it was asked, so they did it anyway. They didn't ask the second time around. Why did they do this? The thinking was, it's better to attempt making shorter yardage shooters more competitive than change any rule making it more difficult for the gifted shooters to master! HAP
I took the 2 yards and went right back to 27. I do not think it really matter as far as getting more people to shoot handicap. The Krieghoff challenge at our state shoot brings out the shooters. I think the 1000 target review is just fine.
I took the reductions, both times, bitching about the way they circumvented the delegates, they did it on their own w/o consulting the delegates, not a legal action according to the ATA rules and by-laws as far as I am concerned, it should never have been done, others took it for an advantage, and I did it to be equal to those that did. They give it back I give it back, was on 27yd line for over a total of more than 35 years.
How do we as ATA members handle this? They took away the Life Members Powers when it came to move the Home Grounds, I read our powers on my Life Membership
Heck, I was special. I got a three yard reduction and took it. A few hundred targets later I'm back at the 26. The 24 and 25 were simply long Singles but I met my match at the 26. Maybe I can still make it back to the fence again in my old age!
They must of called Obama's consulting services and asked him how to do it without getting the BOD involved ... I did not take them, figure if I can't cut it I derserve to lose ... I shot my way back, won't be shooting my way forward ... Its my money and as long as I am paying its no ones business where I stand ... I do not see where it effects the integrity of the game or I might do something differently, then again I might not ... wpt ... (yac) ...
