I just read this in the news and it looks to be good news for our Canadian friends who want to come into our country for shoots.

Now they can return home if they have been vaccinated,

Canada describes first phase of border reopening

Ryan Finnerty North Country Public Radio The Canadian government has released the details of its first step toward relaxing border restrictions.

Starting at midnight on July 6, fully vaccinated travelers may enter Canada without being subject to a mandatory quarantine and hotel stay.

Vaccination status will need to be electronically verified in the ArriveCAN system prior to arrival at a port of entry.

The change applies to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, as well as some U.S. residents traveling on essential business.

Canadian Health Minister Patti Hajdu called the change a cautious adjustment and encouraged unvaccinated

Canadians to continue get a shot.

Details on the next phase of reopening have not yet been released, but non-essential travel to Canada for non-residents remains closed until at least July 21.

U.S. residents can visit travel.cg.gov to find out if they qualify to enter Canada under the current restrictions.

Canadians are not allowed entry via land ports into the US unless they are “essential”. Shooting does not qualify as essential.

    Borders with Canada
    • The United States and Canada have limited non-essential travel at our shared land ports of entry.
      • “Non-essential” travel includes travel that is considered tourism or recreational in nature. “Essential travel” still permitted includes: work and study, critical infrastructure support, economic services and supply chains, health, immediate medical care, and safety and security.
      • Trade and business travel will continue to operate across our borders, ensuring workers and goods are not impeded.
    • U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, and individuals with valid travel documents will be exempted.
    • Land borders are operating at reduced capacity and with limited hours. Visit CBP and CBSA for details on land border crossings.
    • In addition to restrictions on non-essential travel between the United States and Canada, a number of provinces and territories have put in place specific restrictions for travel across their borders, including for domestic travelers. Please see our COVID-19 Information Page for more details.
The following categories do not fall within the definition of “essential travel:”
    • Individuals traveling for tourism purposes, such as sightseeing, recreation, gambling, or attending cultural events in the United States.

Sorry, I misinterpreted this thinking that Canadians could enter the US but the problem for them was getting back home.

Guess this isn't such good news for my Canadian friends after all.

Thanks TJ 80 for clearing this up.
