Was thinking of going to shoot the Fl Spring Shoot ; however, after looking @ the program & seeing the prices, wondering is it worth it targets $39.00 + $6.00 daily fees for the first 100 targets?

As crappy as I've been shooting lately its a waste of rare ammo & $$

The prices are approaching those in Sparta

Couple of state shoots in the northeast are $34 for targets and $5 daily fees. They have to pay for the trophies and added cash somehow. Pick and choose what events you want to shoot and go for a day or two and have a good time. Only way to cure crappy shooting is shoot more, or spend some money for a coach to help correct your crappiness:rolleyes:

The only way to cure my crappy shooting is to turn the clock back, turned 78 in Jan-- ole body can't move like it used to

Spend more at the bar or your favorite restaurant. You'll be way ahead. I can help the wife and kid with their shooting all day then spend my shooting money elsewhere. Works for me.

Instead of ammo, I'm loading up on Johnny Walker Black, up to 6 cases, never know what the next shortage will be.

It's $45 not a life changing amount of money, how bad do you want to shoot?

Targets in Tucson and Texas are the same.

Seems on par with the cost of shoots in Northern California.

I'm a bad person to ask - EVERYTHING seems too high to me anymore. :( Everybody tells me I got old man disease - I still remember Nickle candy bars. Still, I spent far more on shooting 25 years when shot was $12.50 a bag, and the local club was charging $1.50 a round than I do today. The reason? I was a lot better shooter then - than today. I didn't mind spending money when I could compete. Now I just go out and shoot a few doubles every once in a while which I still enjoy. No reason for me to shoot handicap anymore at these prices.

    Hey Uncle Phil

Saw where the youngsters will be eligible for free targets at that shoot. Try putting on a double dose of vanishing cream and you just might get to shoot for the daily fees only!

On a serious note; get in the car and go shoot, considering the generous donations you've contributed to the sport over the years you'll never notice another couple hundred bucks!

It's too bad you don't live around NW Ohio where I do. We have a Lewis Class meat shoot around me every Sunday at one club or the other. They pay 4 shooters to a class, 8 shooters to a class, so half the shooters WIN meat. There are also a couple of draw pots for a score. One each shoot and one perpetual. Cost 18 bucks and you can shoot it as often as you like, I think it costs 8 or 9 dollars if you just shoot the targets but I'm not sure.

Around here we used to be ATA shooters but not so much today. We are still trap shooters though.

ATA shoots are increasingly governed by the law of diminishing returns. Fewer and fewer entries mean higher and higher priced targets. It's not gonna change.

I look at it this way. almost 71. Don't know how many more years I will be able to shoot or even be around to shoot. 6 yrs, ago I had a 95+ average (Not ATA) now I can't get my ave. up to 90% but I still enjoy shooting. I will shoot all I can afford as long as I can physically do it. I have thought about giving up shooting when I have a few bad weeks thinking I am an old washed up has been shooter and than I go out and shoot a 48 or 49 and decide to keep on going.

Just got the NC state shoot program--$5.00 /100 cheaper than the Fl Spring Shoot--really miss shooting in NC, great people, clubs really know how to feed and some of the best shooting backgrounds

When I turned 80 I was getting so my feet and legs wouldn't take an 100 target event. I decided that if you're not shooting ATA or leagues then trap is boring. Switched to skeet, now shoot with friends 2-3 times per week, maybe 6-9 rounds total and shooting is fun again. We laugh, B.S. and don't worry about scores. The most fun is when we shoot 410 in the wind. I still take my trap gun to the club each trip but haven't shot it in several months.
