2021 GRAND - May 1 deadline

OSTA January 9 meeting: Delegate Blair stated that as of 9:30 a.m., Sparta has until May 1st to determine if the Grand American will be held in Illinois. The A.T.A. is once again checking into a back-up plan – considering Tucson, P.A., Missouri, and the Cardinal Center, should relocating become necessary.

Do you think a permanent home is better than a country-wide traveling show?
I know this has been discussed ad nauseam in bits and parts but consider as an overall long-term plan for the ATA. Please don't respond if you don't care or do not plan shooting ATA again unless you have a sincere opinion based on experience. Thanks

 

THAT GIVES THE ATA 60 days to actaully set vendors and participants to get ready, I'd a\say May 1st is last day of ATA to be open as a shooting facility, Best to rent a trucks to haul away OUR Equipment WE PAID FOR.

I agree Doc Personally, I don't care what the venue is (assuming proper number of fields, hotels, camping, parking, ability to handle large shoots, etc) but the HOF is another question. It does (or should) belong to the members. I guess that is what Dysinger has been trying to tell us all along. Where the shoot occurs is not as important as the housing of the HOF As our historians have told us, the Grand has been in several locations over time Not so easy to haul the HOF around and that needed consideration for a one and done deal. of course, it may be one and done now. Lets hope not.

 

I would assume you mean WSRC and not the ATA as they are not a shooting facility. If this happens can I count on YOU coming to help remove OUR equipment WE PAID FOR? I'm sure the ATA could use all the help they could get, if it comes to that. It's a lot of equipment.

 

IMHO the grand will be at Sparta, vendors will be there, I'm sure a store or two may be empty, there will be ammo, and I foresee a slight increase in shooters from 2019, most here will still never be 100% happy, some folks here will keep bringing up "the way things used to be is the way they should still be". this is of course my opinion which everyone will say does not count for much.

You saw it here. Brad M says there will be an increase in shooters at Sparta over 2019. I have a hundred dollars on that one.

The earth will be proved to be flat before there is an increase in shooters at Sparta. I too would pay the hundred to keep Gipson in Illinois.

 

Before any corrections/modifications can be made someone has to admit there is a problem, this has not been done yet other than having the Grand In Mo on one occasion to date in the past 16 + years ... The ATA stumbles on the words that would elude to the fact that they screwed up BIG TIME being as they cannot find fault in anything they do or how bad they screw it up ... The ATA is a Major Corporation that needs to be operated like a business by people who are qualified to run a business and that goes far beyond being one of the Good Ol' Boys waiting in line for their turn at the Cash Cow ... The WSRC ( Sparta, Ill) has never been the right place for the grand and under no circumstances ever will be ( that fact had been hashed and re hashed time and time again) and it has NEVER been headed in a Fantastic Direction as claimed by Lynn ( the Talking Head ) Gipson some years ago ... Time to pick up the pieces and move on, if you keep doing the same thing over and over and expect something to change there in lays the problem, it is not going to happen ... The ATA is long past the time for a good house cleaning, better late than never ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
