This was supposed to be fixed but hardly. It may not be passable for motorhomes soon. Do any delegates care? I would like to hear from one.

The WSRC is a State Park owned by the State of Illinois, they do not have the money to make the needed repairs so it will in all probability continue get worse as time goes by ... The BOD does not have the call nor does the ATA being as they are nothing more than renters, so if they fix it the expense will fall on them not the State of Illinois ... The construction was a rush, rush, hurry up job so the ATA would have a place to host the grand, the roads were black topped over a graded earth without the benefit of a base which is needed for drainage and strength for longevity ... The roads are but one of the many flaws built into the construction when it was being made ready for use ... The Delegates (BOD) cannot tell the State how to operate or run their business, the ATA can ask for certain improvements or repairs to be made but that does not mean they will get them ... The State of Illinois is your basic "Slum Lord" in most instances, if people buy into it and continue to do business with them, that is their own fault ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

    Once upon a time,

Hey, did you hear the good news? They are going to build us a new facility in a place called sparta in IL.

I heard that, it's going to be the greatest place to shoot Trap that anyone has ever seen.

Yeah, it's going to be the premier Trap shooting place on the planet.

Ya know, I can't help thinking about that old saying, IF IT'S SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE!

Ah, don't even think that. This place is going to draw even more shooters than they had at Vandalia. The state is going to make sure that everything is perfect for the 30,000 plus expected shooters. Hell, they will probably have the biggest turnouts EVER.

    Once upon a time......

Better send out a notice for donations for road repair.

They did it for the STATE OWNED Hall of Fame Museum.

The State of Illinois made a statement last year that the State Parks were in need of many repairs, some that were even considered dangerous in the States evaluations, estimated them to be in the 9 million dollar range total for all of the State Parks / Recreational areas ... This was posted on the State of Illinois web site along with the financial situation that the State was involved it, to the point they could not pay off Lottery Winners (those funds are supposedly guaranteed ) so if you want chaos and confusion that would be the right place to go ... I don't think any request for donations are going to cover the damages and premature aging ... The ATA should come up with a figure they need to make the needed repairs and have a preservation fee added to each entry of those who shoot at that facility, limited to use at the WSRC facility ONLY and not for use on other State Parks ... They could put a Cap on the Preservation Fees of $2,000 per entry total for the entire grand, do the same thing with the u.s open and eventually the repairs could be made ... What's fair is fair, if you are gonna play, you gotta pay and help the cause ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

    Seriously?
Another fee to help pay for road repairs that the ATA doesn't own?

Just make Dominos the "Official Pizza of the ATA"!
They're repairing roads everywhere to make them "delivery driver friendly".
    There, problem solved.

We charged a fee to move to a place we did not own.
We paid for a $2.2 million HOF building we don't own.
We already do repairs to a place we don't own.
Why complain about sinking 4 or 5 million into the roads of Illinois?

I think we should hit the Ohio ATA shooters with a surcharge on fees to pay for this stuff. They failed to keep the ATA/Grand in Ohio and now the rest of us have to suffer for it. Nice going.

When I was saying they should seek donations, I was joking.

Seems like some others have had some good fun also.

Too bad, but this has gotten to be an ONGOING joke as time goes on.

Love the 4 posters following my comments !!!

Who is THEY and how in the world are you suffering? All I hear from the Kool Aid drinkers is how great that place in IL. is.

THEY were warned that it was a dumb ass move.
THEY said people against the move there didn't know what THEY were talking about and all those shooters close to that white elephant in IL. would flock to that place and make up for any losses in attendance.

    Well they flocked up.

Now YOU have to deal with it. YOU should have voiced your opposition to the move when it first came up. YOU wanted it, now you got it. Have fun and "suffer".

If it "seems too good to be true" and "there is one born every minute" comes to mind.

The pictures I have seen are the same as posted last year road conditions, It is the other roads that have deterioted to Camping Spaces for the Motor Homes.

Some motor Homes can be damaged manipulating the roads.

The idea I posted above may seem far fetched but its a viable solution that could quite possibly work over a period of time ... Those hard core shooters that still attend the grand at the WSRC can pay for making the place usable, those who do not attend should not be subject to paying for the play ground that a few others play on ... Mr Bill Martin made a suggestion that all members be assessed $20.00 to pay off the HOF building that is owned by the State of Illinois so this suggestion would be just as valid as the one he made ... The Martins have contributed a bunch over the years of his own free will, so the associated fees for shooting the grand would increase for those who shoot it (Preservation Fees) or make it a donation to the State of Illinois and maybe it could be a tax write off (Mandatory Donations ) ... I have not seen any other suggestions to off set the costs related for the grand so maybe, just maybe this could work with some slight modification ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

I actually have a few other ideas that are sure to be a hit :

    (1) ... Daily parking and admission fee ... (flat fee unless you leave )

    (2) Sell water on the grounds, no water from home or water bought someplace else (like shells)

    (3) Take a dump fee (out houses ) and charge for the use of the showers ...

    (4) Golf cart rentals or fees for those brought in by the shooters ...

    (5) Disposal fees for those who do not save the hulls ...

    (6) Charge for water over and above the RV parking spots .

    (7) Charge for dumping black and gray water (flat fee )

    (8) Mandatory donations for the score keepers and loaders ... (daily)

    (9) Cleaning fee for after the shoot per camping spot ...

    (10) Garbage disposal fee ...

These are just a few of the things that may insure the future existence of the grand at the WSRC, Illinois new Motto, You wanna play, you gonna pay ... Thanks for your support ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
