Whiz she is raising 2 grandchildren I was told today, I can only say she is a devoted Grand Parent and was devastated w/ Jims Loss, I believe Lex Wexner is helping her, I do not Know for sure, Mr. Wexner was very close to Jim Forsbach, and Jim purchased a lot of Sporting Clays gun for the Wexner Sporting Clays course near New Albany, from Jaquas and others.

Jim's widow is a jewel. I should send her a note saying how much I miss Jim. They live there in Albany, Wexner's "estate" neighborhood. You probably know that.

I did quite a bit of business with Jim and Leslie.

Jim was an investor with my high school and college best friend, Jeff Wilkins - Columbus, OH, who founded CompuServe. Jeff's dad and my dad were in the same wholesale liquor business. Jeff wanted me there in Columbus when he was setting up C/S, but my mom had cancer and my dad has just been killed in a car accident, so I stayed here. He made millions, and stayed here and made hundreds!!! ;-)

Jim always told me he was Les' "shooting instructor," but on his death bed he said he was really his partner. They'd bought Abercrombie and Rich (sp) and sold it for tons.

He and I talked often and he constantly sent me "stuff." Sure do miss him.

WPT cannot handle a lap top at this time, he is in GREAT PAIN, not Mobile at this time, I only text him on his condition and outlook to keep us informed'
He has been in that Hospital approx. 4 weeks now and mostly in an ICU Unit until recently placed in a room just below that level, He wants to be out of there as soon as possible w/o pain, and in a productive position, I've been in that position, but not to the degree and length of time he is going through. Prayers is all we can do to get him back to his old self.

WPT is trying to get released from Nursing home Wednsday, said they cannot do anything for him there, I told him I hoped that he gets the Pneumonia under control at home. There is nothing like being home, just hope he does very well. May GOD Bless him and his wife.

Boy, I caught something like that May 25th of 2015. Had a gal ride with us to Portland from Rapid City who had just returned from Hawaii. She caught something over there and shared it with me. I was so damn sick, I left my son's home 4 days later and drove back home. I did manage a quick stop at Ljutic, but they were closed that Saturday, so I left my business card in the door.

I was in bed the entire month of June, lost 25 pounds, ate nothing but Ramen noodles and Gatorade. The other half thought I was gonna die. I have never been that sick in my long 70 years. A cold or sinus once in a while, but that one damn near did me in. Then I got a reaction to the Amoxicillin that they thought would really finish me off. I battled through it, but unfortunately, I got my appetite back.

WPT, I kinda know what you are going through and it ain't no fun. Hell, I could barely walk up my stairs to the dining room, and most of the time I didn't.

You'll get through it, you are a tough guy, but it takes time.

It takes a REAL BIG MAN to do what the Doctor tells you to do. My father was a mean, hard man but pneumonia went through him like he was a piece of wet toilet paper. He didn't make it.

WPT, we want you back, BUT we want you back at 100% and on your best game. Rest and sleep and drink good whiskey, none of that cheap stuff. Don't worry about Hillary, Donald is gonna smoke her like a 2 dollar cigar.

Sincere thanks for all of the well wishes and prayers, must of worked , got released today and am on the mend at home at least for now, though that is subject to change ... I went in for a routine colonoscopy, ended up with a hole in my colon and got septic ... Went into the ER 2 days after thinking it was nothing serious, the pain said otherwise, it sure was and they prepped me for emergency surgery (STAT) , ended up with a temporary colostomy so there will be a big saving on toilet paper for awhile ... The Doctor never gave up and kept on pushing me to try and get better ... I pretty much gave up, 15 days in ICU and then Rehab for another 8 days with breathing treatments, therapy, and education why that stuff coming out of your Azz don't belong inside of you ... Not close to over yet ,but at home and hope to get to feeling better a lot faster being here rather than in the Hospital or Rehab center ... Got a daily home health care nurse for awhile to attend to the breathing treatments, and surgical wounds ... Thank you all again, appreciate having good friends and people who care ... I will keep everyone posted ... Thanks Doc for all of your encouragement ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

    WPT,

Over the years, I've developed a nice little history of diverticulitis. I've had it four times. 2 different times I had diverticuli that ruptured during the night. My fever spiked both times from near 99.5 to 104 in about three hours. The ruptures were spewing infected poison into my periteneal membrane and my body cavity. I was sick. Both times it took me months to get my feet back on the ground and I had been in very good physical shape. When they let me go home from the hospital, it took a long time to feel like it was safe to eat much food. Digestion was hard, pissing was hard and it hurt in my kidneys, everything hurt. The weight loss is a part of the deal. Please, don't let your ego lie to you. Take this time to get well and thank God that you didn't die. We're all running out of runway, but there is no sense in accelerating the process.

    Best regards,

    The Phantom

I guess some of my most serious concerns are, What happens if it happens again ..? The Doctor and Surgeon explained how serious it was and how close to my not being able to make it to my wife and my nephew as they prepped me for emergency surgery ... I do not recall ever feeling the amount of pain I was feeling before I told my wife I was in trouble and needed to go to the Hospital, not sure that is a pain I will forget for a long time if ever ... I am certain there will be some long talks and discussions between myself and the Doctor and Surgeon before its all over ... This getting old stuff sure is not for kids, it would kill them ... Going back into the Hospital 01-17-17 for another Colonoscopy , then reversal of the plumbing (no more bag) ... I will probably be in there for 4 or 5 days to make sure everything is okay and in working order again so I won't be on the computer , I do not expect any surprises based on what me Surgeon has said, I will no doubt be able to recover much quicker once this procedure is completed which I am looking forward to ... I would send it to that place in IL. That horse barn that sits there could put it on display as a reminder of how the "grand" has gone since it was moved there.

My biggest concern right now is the colonoscopy based on the outcome of the last one, this one will be done in a hospital and not a SURGICAL CENTER (Lesson Learned ) ... The Surgeon says recovery should be a piece of cake compared to what happened and the results of ending up with the emergency surgery in the first place ... Yes NO MORE BAG , talk about a pain but a life saver under the circumstances, kind of glad now they didn't let me die ... I was informed by the Surgical Nurse that I told them to let me die rather than do the bag thing (guess I heard it even being under sedation) , she told me I said it twice while they were working on me ... She was (is) a very nice Lady, very concerned how I was afterword and dropped by my room a couple of times to check on me ... She did inform me how lucky I was to even be alive, said she was silently praying as she worked during the surgery ... I'm figuring this will be like a walk in the park, we will see ... Feeling like a Christmas Goose with all of the carving being done on this old body ... I figure its a good thing it happened to me, it would kill these kids now days ... Thank you again to all, hoping to be around for awhile yet ... WPT ... (YAC) ... Happy New Year ...

WPT, Glad to read you are better and on the road to recovery.
11 years ago due to perhaps some agent orange and a couple souvenirs from SE Asia 50 years ago I went through the same procedure. All but about 5 inches had to be removed....... no bag, I have gained back most of the weight I lost (damn) and feel just great. You will be just fine, modern medicine gives people a new lease on life. You will be just fine.
    Happy New Year. Larry

I had 10 cm removed in 2000. No bag, but a substantial recovery before I felt close to normal. Glad you're feeling better and good luck with the rest of your recovery. It is no coincidence that you come across angels like your nurse when you need them the most.

My Doctor and Surgeon say it can take up to 6 months, possibly more if all goes well with no complications , depending on my bodies ability to heal ... Thats not to say I will not be mobile and able to get out and around, walk the dog etc ... I still feel weak and tired but fight it and do feel a little better each day ... This up coming procedure to reverse things and get me back to feeling a little closer to normal will help and give them more reason for following up with the surgeon once its done ... I truly feel Blessed to have so many people who are concerned and who are keeping me in their prayers, means a lot ... I hope to locate that Surgical Nurse and thank her face to face while I am in the Hospital this time ... I am looking forward to getting all of this in the past tense and moving on ... Happy New Year ... Thank you all again ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

    WPT,

Rudyard Kipling wrote a poem entitled, "If." I want you to dig it up and read it. You'll find a whole lot about who you are in that poem.

    Happy New Year!

Diverticulitis is nasty stuff. Thankfully I was at the VA when mine struck for the first time. About all I can remember was the pain, my screaming and they rushing me next door to the Army Hospital ER. Don't know what would have happened if it happened at home.

WPT, I just read this post about you. I feel for you. I had about 15 or so inches of my colon removed in late November 2015 on an emergency case I went from weighing 195 to only 162 in 3 weeks. They replaced my blood 2 and 1/2 times. Then in April of 2016 I developed a huge abdominal incisional hernia and had to have it fixed. The Dr. put an 8x10" mesh in my stomach to hold everything in. It only lasted about three months and the right side became bulged out. So I had to have it repaired on January 3rd 2017, he put another 8x10" heavy duty mesh over the before mentioned one. This time he did it with the robot, was supposed to only be 2 small poked holes but he said he had to do a lot more than he anticipated and had to poke 8 holes. I have been out of the hospital since January 6th and still feel weak and unsteady on my feet and lots of pain. I am so happy for you that you are well on your way to recover and get on with life. I wish you the very best of luck and get well soon. Please forgive my misspellings and use of the english language.

Geez, Don, if you had no bad luck, you'd have no luck at all.

Hope you mend quickly for the shooting season. Getting old sure ain't for sissies! Believe me, I know. They thought I had cancer of the colon about two months ago, but thank God, all was fine. I have to ge back in in May for another check up.
