From the So Called Museum to protect it's Contents of the Shooters equipment, during the Illinois Sale, I suggest Immeaditly, ONE OF OUR PAST ATA PRESIDENTS REMOVED HIS at Vandalia, he did not TRUST the ATA and SPARTA, Illinois,
He was Hugh McKinley a good friend of mine from here in Ohio, I trusted his Judgement, He was right. I feel now is time to Remove OUR Guns & Equipment

Is there a sale going on? News to me. I've been by a few times this week. Haven't seen a sale sign anywhere.

You're absolutely right, Doc. With all the mold and mildew, some of the more precious artifacts are bound to suffer. I wonder if they even have the heat on in the barn during the winter. Plus, and this wouldn't surprise me in the least, there are probably a bunch of sticky fingered night owls around there who might just start to get a bit overzealous, if you get my drift.

The guy who is in charge of the day to day stuff is there pretty regularly and the heat is on, plus they have a pretty wicked alarm system, if a mouse farts it sets it off. The artifacts in there are safe. Pumpkin scared the crap out of me the other day, its a creepy mannequin and if you catch the light right it looks like someone is staring at you. You would probably be surprised to know that the state staff does not have keys to the building, since you know the state owns it.

Yep, Doc, everybody knows you can trust Illinois State Employees. They always do exactly what the Illinois politicians tell them to do. From Daley to Rahm to Blago to Lori Lightfoot to The Guv Himself, Ol' Illinois is just chock full of your Fine, Upstanding Public Servants. If it was me, I'd be forming a posse most quicky ricky ticky...and don't go in empty handed, if you get my, well, you know.

You will most likely need it. The County and local PD respond real quick, and don't take likely to breaking and entering... especially state supported property, some on this forum say a majority of members don’t actually care, right?

HOT DAMN, Doc, now you've started something. Talk about your poetic justice...sounds like there's gonna be a fire first at the gun range. Sweet dripping irony! Call in the Cav....line up the Hueys...time for evabawdy to git locked, cocked and ready to rock. Somebody better git da' asses ova to the O Club and find a few CW3's that can still see.

A simple search finds that the Army phased out the Huey's in 2015. They have moved the huey's job to blackhawks (or crash hawks as I heard some Army guys call them). I always liked the huey's, the sound is very distinct and intimidating. While I was serving I got to fly on one that had patch holes from Vietnam. The pilots had a saying that "if it ain't leaking, its out of something" that always worried me a little bit. The Marines (of which I served) have some of the newer ones UH-1V. I never knew any officers (Commissioned or Warrant) during my time to hang out at the O Club. Of course things were different back in the era in which you are referring to as to when I served in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Well, Doc, to my pleasant surprise, this is gonna be a no brainer. We won't be needing the Hueys after all and that means the 3 Dots can keep drinking. Yep, the best they could drum up was a couple of Eagle Scouts and some guy who knows how to look stuff up on the interweb. I'm thinkin' broad daylight. Back up the caravan and de-ass everything that the rightful owners can take back to God's Country. Piece of cake.

Some say I’m a little sharper than that... A majority on the interweb says gods country is Colorado... they prefer the piece pipe to cake... the 3 dots can keep drinking and telling lies...

Normally, when you donate something to a Museum you sign a disclaimer saying it’s the Museums property to do whatever they wish.
Also, there are stipulations such as Loan or permanet loan.
Anybody know how the ATA Museum is set up ?

I would have to say that HB is the most qualified person on here to answer that question.

I would find it very difficult to believe any member or group of Members could just walk in any of the established HOF' buildings and remove any or all of the artifacts without some legal documentation and then it would be served by the State or Local Police Dept ... Hind sight is always 20/20 as DLS says but what evidence exists or has anyone seen that would make one believe any or all of the artifacts are in peril ..? Me thinks this would be jumping the gun and not in the best interest of anyone involved ... Put and X in the Bad Move column on this one at least for now ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
