The Pittsburg Steelers James Harrison gave back (RETURNED) all of his sons paricipation trophys and said anything worth having has to be earned ... The man is obviously a Man among Men and is teaching his son some very valueable lessons in life by taking these trinkets and awards for attendance away and giving him a reason to get better or live without ... This is part of the problem with the youth of today, make them all winners and create a bunch of losers in doing so ... I can't imagine with all of the trophys they gave out at Sparta that most of them could be anything more than a token more so than something you would be proud to display ... This made me feel good to see a man value his sons self esteem enough to make him work to be a winner, the world needs more of this today ... I sincerely feel there is a very valuable lesson to be learned by this and he has my Congratulations ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

I agree with your opinion of James Harrison's actions but disagree with likening it to winning a trophy at the Grand. Although I do believe that there are too many categories and thus trophies, I was always proud to bring one home and display it

    Ed,
There was a time they gave out half as many trophys and got twice as many to attend, a punch anyplace is a good thing ... If someone offered me a show up trophy or medalion I would laugh in their face and I think you would also ... The trophy's I have won over the years and belt buckles are all special to me even the ones I gave to my kids to, sell at a Garage sale ... Kept a 3ft tall "Club Champion Trophy " the longest , got broke while moving ...
The belt buckles are more on the order of Rodeo Buckles so I do not and never have worn them ... Best trophy I ever got was the 27 yard pin and I earned it ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

Bill.... I couldn't agree more. The most valued awards I have ever received in trapshooting are my PITA and ATA 27yd. pins..... You bet I earned them, and damn proud of both of them.... Dan

Dan and Bill I am also proud of my 27 yard pin and the long time I was on the 27, and being held there for 2 years 3 times for wins from the 27. I sent a bunch of belt buckles to a member here to sell for me, Years ago an Ohio Attorney bought my Ohio State singles Large Platter trophy he displayed in his office, but he said to his clients he won it ha Ha

I have numerous Large Silver Bowls I would like to sell I won at Vandalia Ohio State Shoot, most of my trophies can be seen in Trap & Field magazine w/my picture, damn I was thin then, w/long sideburns. Growing old and now less my Left Foot.

I had my Prosthetic Dr. adjust my new foot for more angle so I can feel better balanced holding my trapgun w/ more weight on my left foot.

Dan and Bill be proud of what we accomplished, others are just jealous they cannot break the COMPETETIVE targets WE BROKE.

How could you bring yourself to part with a trophy from the "Grand"?

    Gary,
Once you get your permanent prosthetic you won't have that outer sleeve to slide up your leg.

My brother in laws prosthetic leg uses air pressure to keep his on. He has a little battery pac air pump and can adjust the air pressure as needed.

My first one had a thick rubber sleeve/shrinker then assorted thicknesses of socks, to keep it snug, then the molded cuff on he stump followed by another thick rubber sleeve over the whole thing, all held in place by the suction of the rubber sleeves. My second/present one has a rubber sleeve with a tooth spiked pin protruding from the bottom that ratchets into the cuff. Push a button and off it comes. No rubber cuff on the outside. Still have a little problem with my chin bone rubbing on the front.

Sounds like a good idea. Something like that might help with my chin bone problem.

Mr James Harrison elaborated for the sake of all involved that" if your best is not good enough you have to work hard and get better" ... My hat is off to this man and all of the others like him ... No attendance trophy's in his house ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

They had to cut the rear of my Prosthetic as it was digging into the back of my knee joint, I have 2 of the Rubber Stump Sleeves and numerous thicknesses of sock sleeves, it is fitting better than ever, my stump started out 16 1/2 inches in circumference it is now a little over 14 inches, they have not said anything about a moulded cuff yet. I go back in 2 weeks

That's the kind that I started with. After I shrank some more, they recast the stump and gave me this update that doesn't require an outer sleeve. Not as bulky and fits over the pants much easier

How many of what thickness socks are you up to now? I was up to 2-5s and a 3 when they recast me. They used the same foot and post, just a different sleeve.
