Scuttlebutt on the street is many of the vendors are planning to lower there bids uniformly. Illinois might not like this but it could backfire. A new vendor might get a new spot or a prime spot for almost nothing.

We will see how much the vendors trust each other. Well they try to get each other's buildings. Or will new vendors try to outbid the old guard.

And is anything too much at Sparta? I think some feelings might get hurt here. No bids will equal no support from Illinois in the future.

I might be totally wrong, but I believe some on this forum have heard directly from vendors mouths, that business at the Sparta Grand has been far less than they hoped for. And, have considered removing the GAH from their list of tournaments.

I just don't see a big rush of vendors trying to steal a spot to sell their goods, even at a cheaper price.

Scuttlebutt or Rumor is there's an unofficial gentleman's agreement not to bid on each others stores. I also heard through the rumor mill the state can turn down any bid. Another rumor is there may be some new vendors or there may be some leaving maybe we should pool our money and get an American Trapshooter hang out store, that would really be fun. I also heard there is ammo available at Sparta Walmart(or was the other day), maybe there starting to stock up for the grand. of course this is all rumors, I guess we will see next month? I think that is when all the bids are done. Of course this is all rumor.

I was told directly this week from a Very Large X Sparta Vendor the very same thing, Plus the vendors did not get any money back from their 2020 grand lease. Another fantastic direction. He/She also said the same thing about the bids. Not a rumor. We will see.

    Mr. Dysinger,

Without naming a vendor, can you confirm or deny an old rumor that while at the Shot Show about 6 years back, a top officer of a well-known gun maker told you they were strongly considering opting out of their building lease at the World Shooting and Recreational Complex?

I don't know how much they have to pay but I do know when the Sparta Grand first started their were more vendors on the East fields (tent type) than there was at the last one. The West field vendors are in permanent buildings for those that don't know. I know Jaqua's & Hi Grade were not at the last one either. J&J is gone too now but that is because the owner, Jim, passed away.

It is starting to look more and more like the battle lines have been drawn. Who in their right mind would want to do anything to support a scumbag anti-American, anti-gun state like Illinois?

Every real, well established gun owner who understands the importance of our 2nd Amendment should stand square shouldered against anybody who doesn't believe in our way of life. Boycott those bastards. Support people who will support you! If they are not with us, they are the ENEMY!

The Crisis (Financial situation) in the State of Illinois is self inflicted and will not be going away anytime soon ... I don't care what you call the shoot by name if there are no Vendors (lacking Vendors) there it is a substandard shoot at best and will probably not have a good attendance ... Not having a good attendance is common at the WSRC so if there is a developing problem with Vendors you can put a fork in them they are done ... Support the Vendors, it is the True American way ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

I was just in Sparta Wal-Mart this morning. No ammo except for AA in 28 gauge. Clerk said they were supposed to get some this coming Monday but didn't know how much or what kind it would be.

The "CRISIS" will be going away when Biden signs the newest stimulus package to bail out the piss poorly run Democratic states. Only to start over immediately. NY, Calif, and Ill will never change. those states don't spend like drunken soldiers, Drunken Soldiers stop spending when the run out of money unlike the powers to be in those states

Biden has not done anything worth while for the people of America in his 47 years as an elected official, 8 of them as Obama's VP still nothing ... It will take him awhile to over turn all of President Trumps signed orders, by then Trump (one of the Trumps) will be back in the White House and he or she can cancel all of Bidens crap ... WPT ... If the vendors form a union to short the State of Illinois you can bet there won’t be much support coming from the government there. I am not rooting for the absolute demise of Sparta but you can bet low revenue will help out.

In defense of the vendors....those that paid for last year were ripped off.

All vendors this year if at Sparta Should be ABSOLUTELY FREE, because of FU in 2020, it wasn't the vendors fault.

I know Illinois is definitely anti-second amendment, but I feel bad for the locals at Sparta. They really benefit from the Grand and most that I have talked to don't support what the Chicago criminals adjudicate to them. They are good people that from what they have told me don't even like to admit when asked that they live in Illinois. Between the bickering, lack of and high cost of ammo, rising gas prices, I fear the sport that I love so much is going to be soon dead.

FYI, I have never supported the move to Sparta as I always felt that it should be more central to where the majority of trapshooter's are found. Like Penn., Ohio, and such.

I do not recall anyone saying anything about the residents of Sparta be it good or bad ... The Members who travel to and from the shoot and then on many occasions to and from the shoot on a daily basis besides the original trip is when it becomes a problems for the travelers and many times deemed not worth it ... Sparta was a move made out of desperation because with out it the ATA would of not been able to host a grand for one year until another facility could of been made ready in a more strategic location that the attendees would of found to be more acceptable ... The proof is and has been established if anyone need to be convinced, it can be found in the attendance figures for the past 15 plus years ... What the residents of Sparta like or don't like does not matter to a shooter or a bunch of shooters driving across country at great expense to attend a shoot that at one time was the Shoot of all shoots, that has been reduced to nothing more than a big state shoot with a whored out name attached (There are grands all over the place today, there used to be just the One and only ) ... Keep the grand in Sparta and what you see is what you got PERIOD, nothing more and probably nothing less for the mean time, but as the older shooters die off so will the attendance at the grand if it stays in Sparta, Ill ... WPT ... (YAC) .... (former resident of the State of Illinois )

The prettiest sight I ever seen was the State of Illinois in my rear view mirror when I was leaving ...

My comment wasn't directed at anyone , just an observation I have made on my own. Didn't mean to get anyone's dander up! And yes I agree, Sparta was a very bad move. I would much rather spend the extra money it takes me to get to Sparta on shooting, not fuel and a extra stop for a meal. Geez, lighten up!

I don't have any dander to get up, you don't know me or you would know that ... Your Comment seems to take into account and consideration the residents of Sparta feelings more so the attendee's ( ATAShooters/Members) ... I Personally would never live in a place I would not admit to so that is not saying much for the residents who do not want to admit they live in Illinois / Sparta ... I lived in Illinois for 47 years and got out after seeing the writing on the wall and the direction the State was headed in ... I think you are talking just to talk with a limited amount to say based on any facts ... I had been to Sparta prior to the State and ATA getting the BRIGHT IDEA of relocating there, have not been there since based on a lack of desire ... The first time it (Sparta) was mentioned I expressed my feelings about it not being the place to relocate to as did many other members and vendors but the ATA did it anyway so since then those who paid have made them pay by not showing up to shoot, not visit with the local residents ... If not for Wal Mart being there it would be considered a wasteland in a nice rural little town ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

Reality is as light as it gets ... Thin skins exit stage right ...

If Illinois is so anti gun how do you reconcile the fact that over 1,000,000 guns were purchased in the month of January 2021. The highest in the nation !

Illinois is still a state of these United States and the second amendment is still valid there, but what is so unfriendly is to the legal gun owners Now, if you were a banger, the laws seem to protect them and they don't harass them and make them jump thru countless hoops to purchase a firearm of ammunition.

    Bob,

It's the Communist government of Illinois that is anti-american and anti-gun. The good, God fearing people of Illinois are buying guns so they can kill and maim all those Illinois Commies. Very simple, actually.

"The Illinois State Police recorded 56,460 inquiries about firearm purchases in January — the fourth largest number in a single month."

I guess the other 943,540 sales could have been "off the books".

"Two monthly records ahead of January were both set last year — 65,222 in July during the civil unrest following the Minneapolis police killing of George Floyd and 64,028 in March at the onset of the coronavirus pandemic."

If they could count the illegal gun sales it would 2 or 3 times that number ... Chicago which is located within the state lines of the State of Illinois is a 24/7 shooting Gallery ... Check the statistics on that if you dare ... WPT ... (YAC) ....
