    PIQUA — Robert "Bob" Vernon Havenar, 75, of Piqua, passed away Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, at 12:55 a.m. at the Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy.

    He was born on Jan. 8, 1941, in St. Marys, Ohio, the son of the late Vernon and Bernetta (Heil) Havenar. On Aug. 24, 1963, he married Judith A. Meyer, who preceded him in death on June 5, 2000.

    Bob is survived by his two children, Kristal (Trent) Statczar, of Westerville, and Britt (Amy) Havenar, of Sidney; four grandchildren, Grant, Zack, Bryce, and Mallor; three brothers, Tom (Linda) Havenar, of Columbus, Richard (Brenda) Havenar, of Lockington, and Ed Havenar, of McArthur.

    He was preceded in death by one sister, Peg Beisner.

    Mr. Havenar was a 1959 graduate of Houston High School and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Sidney. Bob was quite an accomplished business man as he worked for Aerovent Fan Company, owned Havenar Dairy Farm Supply from the late 1960's until 1981. In 1981 he started the Sidney Stor & Loc and the Riverside Carryout. In 1988, he sold the carryout and expanded the Sidney Stor & Loc. Bob retired in 2000.

    Bob had many hobbies that he enjoyed throughout his life; he was a Masonic Mason, and enjoyed Corvettes, hunting and shooting sports. He was a lifetime member of the Amateur Trapshooting Association. He began shooting registered targets in 1968 and completed his career with 392,010 targets shot. While a member of the ATA, he was also a member of the Central Handicap Committee and Ohio's delegate for the ATA.

    Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016, at 10 a.m. at Cromes Funeral Home 302 S. Main Ave., Sidney, with the Rev. Jonathan W. Schriber officiating. Burial will follow at Pearl Cemetery in Swanders.

    Friends may call Tuesday, January 12, 2016 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

    In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Miami County Hospice in memory of Robert Havenar.
