This just in. Yearly property taxes are assessed to the vendors that rent buildings in Sparta. How much? For example a 20 X 40’ spot was $800.00. The only thing you own is the bill. You don’t own the property.

    Being a vendor isn’t cheap.

    I report. You decide.

I thought that property taxes were paid by the landlord and not the tennant.
In this case the landlord is the state of Illinois.
Maybe there was some very fine print in the lease.
Are there any taxes on the hall of fame building? If so who pays them?

If the vendors are that desperate, they deserve anything those anti-American, anti-gun Illinois socialists throw at them. If you buy from a vendor who pays blood money to the Communists, you're paying blood money, too.

What would happen if the vendors all bid lots of money for their building and then just never paid the rent or the tax. I didn't think anyone could be tossed out during the pandemic if they didn't pay the rent. That would serve the state of Illinois right, bid and then walk away.

I think this would be a good place for me to say "I told you so." How much is the rent on the HOF building that Bradford gave to the State of Illinois? Just another example of the Fantastic Direction brought to the ATA by the past and present BOD and the EC, I should mention the HOF trustees as well as the Biden loving museum director too,

Phantom, I agree with you 100% but trap shooters have established their lack of morals and common sense a long ago in my opinion. Shooting $20,000.00 single barrels for a ribbon. No shortage of trap guns on the shelf, no trap shells though. I guess a $20,000.00 single bbl isn't the first choice for home defense either.

Save those primers. may not be anymore coming.

It depends on the the lease. A triple net lease requires the tenant to pay property taxes, utilities, and rent.

TJ80 is absolutely correct. I’ve had leases that required paying property tax and some that required both taxes and utilities.
It may vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction, but around here, the ban on eviction caused by the pandemic pertains only to people, not companies.

The Tenant also pays the Insurance besides the Taxes, utilities, rent, to maintain the building and in some cases a percentage for parking and all other associated cost ... Ask me how I know ...? Been there, done that , never again ... You can bet the State of Illinois is not in it to make friends ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

I started that sentence with I ,which is the ninth letter and the third vowel letter in the English language.
Should I have used (Eye thought that property taxes were the responsibility of the property owner)

Renters don't pay property taxes is not always true depending on the lease (if there is/ was a lease ) and how it is worded ... Net, net, net leases many times many times include the "renter" to pay as if they were the owner as well as maintain the building, parking lot ( if applicable) roof etc, many times the lease includes monthly rent be paid the months where said property is not being used (ex: the WSRC) ... Not a good deal for the vendors that is for sure ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

The move was made out of desperation on the ATA's part which is so obvious by reading the lease agreement, they were dealing with the DEVIL and did they get burned ... That is what happens when you send boys to do a mans job, if the ATA had any legal council he was no better than none at all except he gets paid ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

Did the ATA happen to employ Stevie Wonder to read and sign the lease agreement.

Palos Shooter, Did anyone ever wonder why the cost of the building was so high. Could it be there was some book juggling involved?
I really doubt anyone could be that dumb by accident. Roger C.

How could there be property tax on state owned land? Why would anyone pay a property tax like this?

The Hall of Fame in Sparta pays the property tax. And it is possible the way the lease is worded that the State owns the whole museum.

Our county taxes its land. Every three years the county farm comes up for bid, you not only pay cash rent but also the property tax.

It's all there in black and white. Every document pertaining to all of the details regarding the THOF Building have been published right here on this web site. And discussed.....ad infinitum.....ad nauseum. And guess what? Nobody has done one thing about it....except piss and moan.

Per the language of the Lease Agreement executed by and between the Board of the THOF and the State of Illinois, the State of Illinois could arguably own all of the contents of the now infamous THOF Bldg.

    Poor Ol' Punkin'.
