Is a MX5 like an MX8 or something else ?

Something else. It's closer to a budget version of an MX12. It's a fixed trigger gun with the safety/barrel selector on the top tang and accepts less common round monobloc barrels (non-budget Perazzis have square monobloc barrels).

Still a Perazzi and lots of shooters have shot this model for 29 years or more Dan Boniellas has been shooting one forever. When they made the DB Perazzi after him it was very popular a MX 8 barrel design. Dan went back to original MX 3 he like it better the rest is history.

IIRC, he went to a square monobloc MX3 Special, not a round monobloc MX3.

For a field gun they are hard to beat. A little lighter, carry easy and prefer the tang selectable trigger.
