I purchased a 682 for my son for what I think is cheap but I am told it may need a new hinge pin. Any thoughts on a gunsmith?

You could send it to Beretta but it will take eons to get it back. I would send it to Phillip's Gunsmith in Texas. (210) 313-5988. If it is a gun and broke I think he can fix it.

Ditto on Phillips. He will be at the Cardinal Center shoots.

If you can wait until one of the Ohio Shoots there will be several gunsmiths that can get the job done.

If you wait till the Ohio state shoot you can get Beretta to do the work at a greatly reduced rate.

Sometimes you can take a allem key to the trunion and turn it a few degres and get a new surface .Look inside the recever to see the female side of the screw. All 682 have a adjustable trunion. beretta has larger trunions available from Coles

Or you can reverse them. Left to right.

What Dan said, just swap them out, left to right. Can't hurt, might help.
