We just finished the 2020 AZ. state shoot at the Ben Avery shooting center. This was the first time since I started shooting in 1974 that I did not shoot the whole program at my state shoot. It was also the biggest disapointing state shoot I have ever attended.
The equipment at the club is in pitiful condition, we had a hard time getting through a post with out having trouble with the machines. Every event I shot was on starting trap 13. On doubles it would move to the right after about 4 or 5 targets thrown. I was told we could not reset after the first target was shot at. That was the same shit they tried to pull at another state shoot that was held there. Not a shooter friendly place to shoot. I personally hope the ASTA never holds another shoot there. Roger C.

The management at Ben Avery does not care about their customers. The AZ trap board is not competant to do the job. I told everyone that would listen that if the Phoenix Trap & Skeet club failed trap shooting in this state would fade away. We used to have a very good chain shoot it is gone. We lost our private clubs. We are down to one large club, and they cater to the motor home crowd. The locals are just a fringe benefit to them. Roger C.

    Roger,
Don’t rule out Casa Grande trap & Skeet. Tiger & team do a great job making shooters feel welcome. Tucson is larger, yes, but the atmosphere isn’t as down to earth as CG.
I understand the “chain” is NOT what it once was, but CG & Tucson are making the effort to keep shooting going.

First and last time to shoot Ben Avery for the state shoot or any other shoot. Couldn't get targets to come out on time on any trap field and sometime couldn't even get a target. Management and Arizona directors didn't seem to care about all the complaints that was being lodged against the situation. Heard they had new speakers but didn't want to use them for this event ..old ones would be ok for state shoot.

Ben Avery and our state have no compatent management. But now with the gun hatters in charge of our country we may not need Ben Avery. God help the sane citizens of the USA. Roger C.
