The 144th Illinois State Shoot, State AIM/SCTP and ATA Central Zone shoot have been canceled for the year 2020. Serious restrictions on camping, groups congregating, and exposure issues with the State of Illinois and the county health department have forced this decision upon us. Additionally, insurance company notifications about problems if we don't follow the state and county restrictions have placed additional burdens on the facility and ISTA.
Decisions were also made that Mike Dennis would continue as President of the ISTA and Bill Duncan will continue as ATA delegate. Charlie Bickle continues as 1st Alternate Delegate.
For the 2020 year there will be no new State Team, and last years State Team members will continue to be recognized and eligible for their awards at our 2021 event. All eligible parties for the Grand American Champion of Champions will be eligible to shoot at this years Grand if the event is held.

I don't know anything about how they pick the All American Teams today but I think, and I might be wrong so if I am someone tell me, but I think you have to shoot the grand, your state shoot, and in one other state. If a state such as Illinois has done cancels their state shoot then it seems that all those ATA shooters in that state ain't going to be considered for All American. No points to be had.

Will not being eligible for All American keep point chasers from going to the grand? How many other states ain't having a state shoot. I think Michigan is KO'd too.

No need for points if you aren’t eligible!

Your state shoot was cancelled. Unfair to Illinois shooters that shot great at Ohio.

A shooter does not have to compete in their home state’s championship events. Just have to meet the target requirements and compete in the championship events at qualifying tournaments in three states.

Thanks Don I wasn't sure about all the new requirements, I thought you got more points for your own state shoot wins but that might be wrong too? I saw a couple of Illinois shooters were doing well at the Ohio State shoot so that's what got me to thinking after I came back home from the shoot and read this thread about Illinois.

Do you know if a shooter has to shoot the grand or is it just 3 states? It used to be a given that you shot the grand to even be considered an All American as that was where everyone competed head to head, but that was before the phone shoots and all the ribbons. Ribbon shooting and easy targets are the two worst decisions the EC every did. These two together killed money shooting. .

I wonder how many qualifying shoot's there will be this year? On another note I heard that at the MTA grand they are shooting 50 to a trap, better than 100 to a trap, but not much if your on the non resident banks. It will be interesting this year for sure.

    Brad,
It’s not required to shoot at the Grand but it would be difficult to accumulate enough points without it. Every event at the Grand and preliminary Grand will have enough entries to award AA points X comp factor. Most other shoots only have points on the championship events.
