If you were told you had to wear a mask all the time at a trapshoot , would you go?

I'm on day nine of my fight with corona 19. This is as sick as I've ever been in my 72 years! I contacted it at a trap club. When I can get back to shooting, i'll never do it again WITHOUT a mask. My main concern now is my wife who has dedicated all her time taking care of me.

I was at a club in NW Ohio last weekend, they asked that you wear a mask in the club house or at the least social distance. Outside they didn't have any recommendations.

If mandated in a building of a club yes. There is no reason at an outdoor trap shoot to wear a mask while shooting. Each station is over 6’ apart

How far do viruses travel? Why only 6’? Where did you get that number?

That’s what has been recommended. In open air, social distancing is completely fine not to wear one

This has always made me skeptical. ...Safe at 72", but unsafe at 71" ???

Many areas have closed restaurants and bars after 10pm. ....Does the virus tell time ???

Now, no large family gatherings for Thanksgiving. ....How about the week before, or week after ???

Can't understand people driving alone in a car or walking alone outdoors with a mask on. ....Maskholes !!

Initially I felt this Corona Virus was part of a Political Assassination devised by the democraps when their Impeachment as well as a few other things didn't go as planned against President Trump.... Virus but not sure of what it really is all about though I still firmly believe it is part of a plan that goes against the President being able to advance and progress an agenda for and in favor of the People of this United States ... There just seems to be far to many coincidences pointing in that direction for me to believe otherwise ... I know several people who have been diagnosed with Corona Virus but to the best of my knowledge not one of them has died from it, I actually know more people who have died from the Flu over the years so I am a little confused by all of this being as there has been a Flu Vaccine for as long as I can remember ... I guess now that the Election is over ( though still under protest and being contested ) we all may son find out some of the particulars ... I pray for all of those who have contacted this Virus, but sure would like to know what is going on for sure because I doubt we are being told the whole story ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

I received my positive test results last Wednesday. Eight days after first feeling it in my lungs. First two days were my lungs feeling tight and itchy kind of. Thought it was allergies like usual, until the next morning I woke up and made coffee. Could not smell or taste it. I knew I had it. Next few days my lungs tightened up more and had some fluid build up, along with profuse sweating. Highest temp. surprisingly was 99.7. Got tested on Saturday after, which was a real experience in itself. Friday I went to a drive through and seen the line was two miles down the road. Was not going to wait. Next day I got up and was there hour and a half before opening and was third in line. When I left, the line was the same as on Friday.

I had a mild case luckily. The wife never had any signs, but she had people sick at work. I went to the club on Sunday before I lost my taste, and the Dentist on Monday, otherwise never left the house. Of the ten people I had contact with the week prior, none of them became sick. I kept my distance at the club, but no mask. Other wise I wear a KN95 mask everywhere I go.

I am just starting to get some taste back. When I say taste I am talking about flavors, which is detected in the upper sinus area, just like smell. Taste buds were still detecting sweet, sour, bitter, salt. Need both in combination to get the full affect. Supposedly this virus cuts off the signals being sent through the nerves of the Olfactory System in our sinuses to our brains. This gives us chocolate, strawberry, garlic, spices, roasted coffee bean, etc. I could taste the bitterness of the caffeine on my tongue, but could not taste or smell the coffee what so ever. If blindfolded, I would have had no idea what I was drinking.

Masks (except N95 masks) aren't supposed to protect the mask wearer. Rather, they're supposed to protect those around the mask wearer by trapping the droplets of mucous and saliva holding the virus in suspension and preventing those droplets from traveling and becoming aerosolized when a mask wearer sneezes, coughs, speaks, etc. Without the mask, the droplets escape the mouth and nose and rapidly evaporate, leaving the virus in the air to be easily inhaled by others.

For an analogy: Imagine fine dirt (virus particles) that can easily flow through a screen door (non-N95 mask). Now take that same dirt and add it to water till it becomes mud (virus suspended in mucous/saliva) and toss it against the same screen door...the screen door stops it (well, most of it).

I'd probably go as long as I didn't have to wear it while actually shooting, since it can fog up my eye protection, though I haven't seen anyone requiring that. I've been to a skeet tournament and a sporting clays tournament, and all they asked was that folks wear masks when inside the clubhouse. Outside, they just asked everybody to space out about 6-8 feet. I felt that was no big deal.

Really, I think the whole mask thing is no big deal. I've spent a lot of time in Japan, where they've had a culture of folks wearing masks when they had cold and flu symptoms loooooong before COVID-19. To them, it's just considered good manners to try to prevent spreading your sickness to others. There was nothing political about it, it's just considered being polite. Maybe that's why their infection and death numbers are way lower than ours are, despite having an average population density that is significantly higher, and a population that skews much older than the U.S.

I never do what my betters tell me to. We have been told that you can get covid 19 more than once and that you don't always have anti bodies after getting covid 19 so how can a vaccine made from the dead virus work I want to know.

Last Saturday I asked this question to one of a group of orthoptic surgeons who were hunting at my place, all without masks by the way, and Frank said exactly, think about that. I have many medical people that hunt with me every year from veterinarians, dentists, nurses, and doctors and so far none of them has asked about masks or worn a mask. They bring their kids, wives, and husbands along too and they don't ware masks..

This year so far I've had hunters from New York State, Pa., Chicago, Indianapolis Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio of course, and I'm sure other states if I cared to check. The point is that I see two types of people out their in the country, those that choose to live their lives hiding, which is fine with me and every bit their right to, and those that choose to live their lives like free Americans.

My rules are simple at Thorn Bottom if you don't want to come don't but if you do come don't tell me how to run my business. My life moto has always been "If you don't want me F**king with you don't F**k with me.

Got to go get ready for today's hunters bye.

I had many thoughts about the Virus also early on, BUT ~

I spoke with an old Classmate of mine just a month ago, we were both in good health (we both thought).

I ended up with major surgery a few days later (Not Covid related) , and while laying in my hospital bed my wife called me to tell me my old friend "Ed" was on a respirator, and a dialysis machine, Covid-19 +. This was not one week after talking with him. 2 days later my buddy was deceased.

Covid-19 may be some sort of a joke to some, but We are now taking this more seriously than ever.

Call me a chicken or whatever you please, Call this a political maneuver conspiracy, but after hurting so much over this ordeal of loosing one of my friends from this, I am taking extra precautions.

I have a lot of buddies in the trap shooting world, and sure as hell don't want to go through loosing another because of one not taking this thing more seriously.

Of course this is your decision, one way or another to do as you please, but I just don't want to go through the hurt of loosing any more of my friends from this.

    God Bless all of you.

This looks off to me, the lines etc. I suspect its altered. Not accusing poster of altering. Also, there is not enough room from the trailers to the fence to open swing doors, even more so with the unit by the pole. And finally, those units are missing their reefer unit or its unlike any reefer unit Ive seen or hauled.

History seeker when we get our age we loose friends and neighbors at a high rate indeed. In the last 3 months my mom died (88) from namoura, 2 farmer neighbors (66 and 65) from cancer, my cousins wife (66) from cancer, 1 farmer neighbor heart (70) the preacher who preached my moms funeral wife (63) FROM CORNIA but she had leukemia for the last 3 years and was in and out of the hospital during that time.

I think I had it but didn't get checked and it could have just been a mild flue but my point is that each individual should have the right to do as they feel right. Shutting down the economy is sure death for a lot of people. No work, no food.

I've had an insurance company cancel a big hunt and I'm sure some members not book but I refuse to hide. When the government said give us 2 weeks to slow the spread I did. My compliance wasn't an open ended one. Two weeks, then two months, now two years, I don't think so. I've heard the phrase "need to know" before.

This is what is happening. Unless someone you really care about dies from this, and believes that is what they died from, it just is not taken seriously enough to affect their way of life.

The problem with that is, even if someone you do care about does not die from being sick with this that you may have transferred this to, someone else they know and care about may be affected and die from it. So if that affects them, does that in turn being somewhat secondhand, affect you. Probably not as much.

The bottom line is this, if you feel any symptoms at all, wear a mask in doors and keep some distance for at least a couple of days to see what happens if you must do that. Otherwise stay home and see how things progress. If you lose your taste and smell, STAY HOME AND GET TESTED IMMEDIATLY! IMO, at that point it is your responsibility to alter what you are doing, just as driving recklessly down the road is a danger to the general public. I understand this really sucks, but it is the moral thing to do. I have not left the house in 12 days other than getting the test. I sleep in the extra bedroom, wear a KN95 mask when the wife is in the house, and keep at least six feet from her at all times. She has tested negative twice since I have come down with this, and I now should be non-contagious since I meet the requirements of recovery.

I really do think this is now more about personality than anything else. We have evidence of how we should have reacted simply by looking at what other models of behavior are out there, and how it curved the spread. That is not science, that is fact.

The two vaccines that have come out this week (Pfizer, Moderna), as being over 90 percent effective are mRNA vaccines. They do NOT contain any part of the virus Covid-19. They are not like the Flu vaccine which has around 50 -60 percent efficacy rate and contains portions of the Flu virus itself.

Antibodies only last so long to stop reinfection. That is why these vaccines for Covid are untested as far as their effectiveness long term, because we simply will not know their effectiveness until we get further down the road after vaccination. Possible, this may be a yearly type thing just like the Flu shots are.

I can say that the hospitals here in Florida are taking this very seriously.

I had 3 surgeries in 3 days, 2 at one hospital and one in another. Before Each surgery I was tested for the Covid and thank God they came back negative each time.

Amazing how many doctors and staff were walking the halls in full gear.

When asked about what I was seeing, I was told these people were actually scared of taking the virus home to their families and would go the extra mile for their protection.

OK, back to trapshooting related things.

That why, I am testing daily - Using the Wisconsin test - one of the early signs of Covid is you loose smell and taste -SO -- In Wisconsin -- We pop open a beer and smell it - if We pass that, We taste It -- BUT-- the C.D.C says tests are not 100% --,and with Wisconsin cases spiking, - I been taking several tests a day, just to be sure ---- Woke up this morning with a headache -- don't know if that's a Covid sign, just to be sure I am going to up my testing today. --Nothing else we are keep the Economy going.

This week I've had more hunters from the medical profession, dentists, a worker from the CDC, a couple of hospital administration types and none of them had a mask. So far to a man these professionals hunting with me have said Bacteria masks don't work on a virus other than to make someone wearing one feel like they are doing something. A placebo is what they are..

My personal Doctor and his family came to hunt with us at Thorn Bottom on Saturday afternoon. He is on the board of the largest hospital in Fort Wayne, he is in charge of hiring all the Doctors for that hospital's system. Last year he said they hired about 350 Doctors. This hospital has many satellite hospitals all over Indiana and Ohio. He travels to them all. I have known him for over 20 years, he started hunting with us when he was a resident.

    That's his qualifications.

So Saturday when he came to hunt with us neither he nor anyone in his family wore a mask. He knew none of us would be warring a mask. We had a discussion about this whole subject. He said "the only good Masks do is make people feel like they are doing something worthwhile." He told me Bacterial masks do nothing to protect anyone from a virus. He said that Covid 19 is real but not so bad to shut down the economy for. He is seeing more patients who are suffering depression and that that it is only getting worse.

So I asked him why the Masks, is it because the hospitals who know masks do nothing are corporate cowards and bowing to political correctness? He said "Yes that pretty much covers it"

Go ahead and ware masks, I'm not. Fool yourselves if it makes you feel better but Know masks are not stopping you or anyone from catching the virus. Masks don't work. It sucks if you get sick but don't blame a maskless person, blame the China Commies who manufactured and released the corona virus, blame the news media and the democrat politicians who have scarred the shit out of so many people over it for their own political purposes. The harm they are doing is going to be far worse and cost many more lives than the Virus. The country has suffered gigantic financial harm and may not come back, certainly not in the lifetime of the average ATA member.

For me I'm living my life, doing what I want, going where I want, having hunters hunting with me if they want. You can't hide in your basement forever

Rabbits spend most of their lives hiding in a hole and only coming out to eat while above them wolves are running around, howling about it, living their lives, and then eating the rabbits when they pop up out of their holes, and all the time these wolves are not worrying about anything just doing what wolves do. Are you a rabbit or a wolf?

I was in Florida when this stuff started back in March. Had to leave the Hard Rock hotel/casino a day early due them closing.
Went back to the Tampa Hard Rock casino/hotel in June when they reopened.
Went to Myrtle beach with 18 family members in July for a week
Stopped overnight at Charles Town hotel/casino on our way to OC Maryland for a week in late August.
Spent a week on the boardwalk. Went to the casino 5 miles away all 5 nights.
Stopped overnight going and coming back from another week in OC first week in September.
Went to 4 other casinos in WV or PA.
Went to the casino near Columbus when I thought I could shoot at the CC. ( when I called from the hotel they said they were probably going to be closing soon because it looked like rain) so no shooting but stayed in a motel for 2 nights.
Went to the Ft. Lauderdale Hard Rock hotel/casino for a week in October.
Went to Seneca Niagara hotel/casino for 2 nights 3 weeks ago.
Booked for a week in February at the Hard Rock in Ft. Lauderdale
Have to buy groceries and do all the daily things everyone has to do.

I would say I was doing everything I wanted to do and going everywhere I wanted to go. I don’t think masks do anything either but guess what? If I wanted to stay in ANY of those places, or even eat in my own home
I HAD to wear a mask to get into those buildings or the food store.

I guess if I decided I wasn't going to wear a mask in those places that required them (they all did and still do) I could have just sat at home in my own little world and not leave my house for the last 8 months.

My definition of doing what I want and someone else's definition of doing what they want are probably different. Which is fine. Not everyone likes to travel. Many are happy to just stay at home.

When I was in the Navy we all had one of these. Good for gas and biological attacks. We were told to hope the attack was bacterial or a gas. Nothing would stop a virus.

A bandanna will protect us now. Imagine the scientists being so wrong that the Navy didn’t issue bandannas.

Yesterday I had an ICU Head Cardiac Nurse from a big hospital in Toledo come with her boyfriend to hunt. She is in her 50's and been the head nurse for some time now. She had just came off of a special shift because the cardiac united is being used for covid cases overflow. Her unit has 7 beds all with corona patients on ventilators. She sat in my club house while Tom hunted, She wasn't waring a mask. Her opinion was they did no good. She's around the virus all the time and knows a bacteria mask does no good. She seemed to have little concern about being around other mask less people in my club house.

I'm telling this just as another first hand report from all the medical people that I have hunt with me. To a man , or woman, so far they are all more worried about the election and Biden. A huge majority of the people hunting with me think that some kind of civil war is inevitable but they don't agree on what kind.

I have felt, had a gut feeling about a Civil war brewing for quite sometime, the longer the democraps hold out and do not admit there was hanky panky (voting fraud ) in this last election the stronger the feelings get ... I actually started getting those feeling when President Trump got elected and the democraps started all of their BS accusations (Russian Collusion) and impeachment actions ... President Trump and those in his administration have accomplished more in 3 1/2 years than Obama and Biden did in 8 years sitting in the White House ... Trump is actually the first President in most of our Life Times who did what he said he was going to do in spite of the hurdles the democrapic organization came up with and placed in his path ... Imagine what he could or would have accomplished if he didn't have to be bothered with the democraps interference ...
I wear a mask only because many (most) places have the restriction posted at the entrance, if not for that I doubt I would be wearing one at all ... I sincerely feel the mask thing is a form of control and nothing more, I do feel there is a Virus but do not feel the mask eliminates the threat of contacting it except minimally at best ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

The Democrats are doing just what Obama said they were going to do. Obama promised that if he was elected, he would fundamental change America and that continues to be the goal of most Democrats.

I just read that 17 states have joined the Texas Election Suit asking the U.S. Supreme Court to prevent electors from Michigan, Georgia, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania from participating in the Electoral College on Dec. 14.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday evening gave the states until 3 p.m. Thursday to file responses.

You might not have to wear a mask at a trap shoot but if you live here in PA this is what you will have to deal with the other 6 days of the week.

12/10/20 From the governors office and his transgender  health official.

"The measures will be in place for three weeks, going into effect Saturday and lifting on Jan. 4, and are the strictest restrictions the commonwealth has seen since its stay-at-home order was gradually lifted in May and June."

From 12/12/20 to 1/4/21.Merry Christmas wolf, you 2 bit politician.

"For the next three weeks, indoor gatherings and events of more than 10 people and outdoor events of more than 50 people will be prohibited across the commonwealth, as will indoor dining at restaurants, Gov. Tom Wolf announced.

All K-12 indoor and outdoor sports and extracurricular activities must be halted, he said, and indoor gyms and fitness classes must temporarily shut down. All in-person businesses in the indoor entertainment industry, including theaters, concert venues, museums, movie theaters, and casinos, must also close."

Notice that NOTHING is said about the pro or college teams. What's this dipshit going to do? Tell the Steelers they can't can't play because there are more than 50 people?

"Takeout, delivery, and outdoor dining will still be permitted at restaurants, bars, and other dining facilities, Wolf said. Churches, synagogues, mosques, and other places of worship may continue to hold services, though they’re strongly encouraged to celebrate virtually if possible."

He knew he couldn't get away with that again.

"Retail businesses may operate at 50% capacity, down from 75% capacity."

They were barely hanging on at 50%

A comment was made a couple of months ago that if they lived in PA they would move. I guess everyone could move to another state but I really don't see that happening. This POS can't run again so he pretty much doesn't have to worry about not being re-elected.

BTW, it was disclosed about 3 days ago that wolf had "tested" positive. Today he is all better. Really? My question to this booger eating moron would have been, How in the world could you be positive when you have followed all of YOUR own guidelines?

Oops, maybe the testing is so screwed up they tell 99% of the people that get tested that they have this virus. Their biggest concern is to get as many tests done as possible. You think these places are doing this testing out of the kindness of their hearts?

If you live in Pa and don't want to move maybe get a bunch of your friends together and convince the gov to move. It's been done before. What's going to happen eventually has to start someplace. I'm getting tired of waiting, I red today that a Texas State Rep has put a bill in for Texas to become a FREE nation again so that may be a start.
