Federal Dove and Target white 4 pack red box shells

Bought some Federals white box 4 pack shells at Walmart, (individual boxes are red) not sure what kinda primers in these shells? as my gun does not like Chedite primers (Hard Primers) in lower barrel. I have no problems with Remington, Federal Top Gun, Winchester super Target, But lots of problems with primer burn through with Fiocchi s, and Winchester Universals, so far.

 

Is that to say you are having issues with these shells??

 

Does your recent purchase have a two-piece wad?

 

To be honest was going to shoot them tonight for the first time, but just got rained out. so maybe Sunday?
I was wondering if anyone knows the type of primers or if they personally have had any positives or negatives?
Price was right Walmart $19.87 for 4pack(100 shells)

I bought two of these 4 packs, have not shot them yet but could not pass them up at that price ... I got 7 1/2's instead of 8's ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

 

These are probably same as the Top Guns that WM has been selling, just "New & Improved" packaging. I have had very good luck with the Top Guns for $5 - $5.50/box. I reload Top Guns only and get a few loads out of them, the new ones have a plastic base wad.

 

I have shot 300 of them so far. No issues.

 

The Top Guns have a two-piece wad, and I was curious to see if they used the same wad. If so they would probably be the same shell. I like the 3 dram 8's in the Top Gun.

 

Shot 75 yesterday with no primer burn throughs. And they broke clays well.

I also received a email from Federal that I sent on Saturday, Fast reply for sure and good news. Response follows after asking what primers they used in these shells.


We have outsourced some shotshells in the past. Assuming those are shells built within the last couple years, all of our shotshell will have our Federal 209A primers.

Thats good news and great price, $19 and change for 4 box pack.
I know some don't like to buy shells from Walmart oh well to each thee own.

 

I cut a "Dove and Target" and a "Top Gun" apart. They are the same shell.
