Nope....would you have shot the grand if they took your money for two weeks of shooting and didn't tell you your points and wins didn't count until the end of the shoot.

Many shooters do not consider the Grand as the ultimate shooting experience any more. The leaders of the organization have done a good job of alienating there customer base. They have the registered shooting sport on a very slippery slope, and are to myopic to see their problem. Of course being the smartest people in the room, they have a hard time seeing their colossal mistake of ignoring the members. ROGER C.

I stood next to Earl when he ran 200 straight from the 27 yard line. Not many have ever achieved that. That was at the old Flagstaff club in AZ. That was a tough place to shoot. Never shot with Dave, but I have a lot of respect for his ability. Roger C.

We need a grudge match sponsored by americantrapshooter.com between the Kolar gal and Dave.

Grudge match would be over the top. 2 to 1 odds on the Seitz gun.

Dave should be married soon. Just the facts. And this little lady doesn’t shoot a Kolar.

I don’t see Covid affecting Dave. The top spot may be his to lose. Campbell doesn’t look healthy enough to withstand Covid. Dave is one the those dudes you can’t kill and Lamont may be stuck in Canada. They can shoot for it all at the CC. I am sure that is the only viable grand spot.

Dave might find the going tough at Linn Creek. I am giving 20 to one odds Harlan will be on one of the 3 shootable banks. Dave probably will be stuck on the rest that will have no high scores. This is the most unfair of the clubs.

STaT mAn STaN, I posted on another thread the difference in banks at Linn Creek. Odds are about 12 to 3 of getting one of the good ones. I do not think it will be apermanent move. If so it will be another sparta like decision for the illustrais EC. I wonder if they are getting used to the teeth marks on their back sides? Roger C.

Roger your odds assume an equal opportunity per person. Of what mathematical certainty are you that that Lynn is going to give everyone an equal opportunity at those traps? Try getting one of those trap and get back with us.

The first time I shot MTA I think was 1976 state shoot. Over the years I shot MTA about as often as Vandalia. The "resident" traps are the banks right in front of the club house, although I liked the Eastern banks the best. Something is wrong with the newest banks to the west and shooters hate them. I never shot them much but they are different, something about the houses.

The trap help will be a concern, and the heat in August can be bad. People around the Lake are very nice. I've often said that if I could make a living in Mo I'd live there. I know that area pretty well from the years I bummed around shooting with Leo. I shot in Mo so much that I was almost a resident.

I'm sure that the EC and Lynn's friends will be shooting out front of the club house. Perceived fairness in squading is one reason the Mo Fall Handicap attendance has went to hell the last few years. Poor money another.

MTA could always be a tuff place to shoot, lots of weather events in that portion of Mo.

Brad, The newest traps that no one likes, I was told when they installed the houses that they hit bedrock before they had the machines down low enough in the houses. That may be the problem. It probably affected the target flight.
I supplied machines for the traps when they were first installed. Roger C.

Roger I think you are right, when I shot on those traps the birds seemed flat with no face. Too high in the house would explain that.

The last time I shot there they made you shoot 100 targets all on one field, now that could be really unfair. I haven't shot ATA for 8 or nine years and I haven't been to MTA for 15 so I have no idea really what it is like today, it could be different but I'm sure what ever traps the past presidents shoot on are considered the good ones.

This is off the original post. But I had a situation at a money/meat shoot here in Ohio on a 50 bird event. I could run the first 25 single targets most of the time. But when I moved to the last trap for handicap, I generally started on post 1. Then as I started moving to post 4 and 5, that's when the misses started. This happened more often then not.
Then this 80 some year old man who always seemed to place in the Calcutta, came up to me and said, ''notice how the walk way from post 1 to post 5 is on a constant rise''.
He said '' I'm one of the guys that built and poured the concrete''.
''Your shooting over top on post 4 and 5''. Sure enough the next 50 bird event I noticed the gentle rise, and held a lower gun on 4 and 5.. When the smoke cleared I won my first 1st place win. I might had never figured that out if it not had been for ''Benny''.

Anyone know this guy? He was on the practice trap at the OSTA Shoot. Shooting from the 24. Interesting that he did not ask the trap help there to move the speakers. He just hopped in and shot. I took lots of pictures. It didn't seem to phase him.

For the Dave Shaeffer fans. I never had a dog in this issue but I have had the chance to meet this guy. I would squad with him.

His squads always let me get good pictures. Another picture here. He hits the targets hard. He holds a very high gun.

I have never seen him ask for the traps to be reset.

I've known Dave since he was a little kid. He and my former All-American son locked horns a few times back in the early 90's. He's grown up a bit since. I scored for him at a local ATA shoot several weeks ago and I found him at his usual personal best. He still can shoot a bit!

Dave is in a class of his own, great Guy, Great shooter and not backed by one of the biggest gun manufacturer nor getting unlimited amounts of his choice of shells for free like a select few. And he is still able to perform at a level above the rest.
Too bad for the bureaucracy that kept him away from the sport ....... Even if it was not permanent... Glad he's out shooting again
