For the Hall of Fame,Shame and Blame. I vote for the man that built the World Shooting Complex, the former Gov Rod Blagojevich.He is in jail because he stepped on his father in law foot.The Chicago machine got him.In Illinois you have to be part of the team.Like the old saying goes..Everyone knows the poker game is crooked.But every one plays because it is the only game in Illinois.

 

You have two people on this list that I think should be in the ATA HOF, namely Dave Bopp and Daro Handy. Dave was the ATA General Manager for many years during the hay day of the ATA in fact. He did more good than bad, even if the satellite grands were his idea.

Daro holds all the records for shooting from the 27 yard line, long run, # of 100 straights and it's a travesty not for him and his records to be mentioned. He's not in because certain shooters in the ATA accused him of cheating by turning down birds. Maybe he did maybe he didn't, I personally never saw it just heard it, of course I heard that our currant ATA VP from the southern zone was a cheater on more that one occasion too. I heard he was a target claimer.

Daro was never suspended and he never stole any money like the pull 2012 crowd, I'd think that would be a dis qualifier, but I guess not. Brad

 

Brad, I knew Daro. 99% of the targets he turned down were not on time. One day I said Daro you could shoot and break those pulls. He answered yes I could, but they made this game with me, so I play it with them. The next year I received a phone call that he went down at the grand. He also has the long run from the 27yd. line 505 straight. I think you are right, he should be in the HOF. Roger C.

 

My Write in vote would be for HISTORY BUFF.

HB has brought forward so much of the history of Trap Shooting to the viewing public, he should be inducted on his Contributions to the sport.

American Trapshooter - Hall of Shame Hall of Fame Wing must include the 4 Stooges that said this site would close in 30 days.

And in the Hall of Fame Wing, the first inductee would have to be History Buff.

 

Gun control advocate, felon, and father of the WSRC, Rob Blagojevich must be in the Hall of Shame Wing.

If anyone were to REALLY look at History Buff's credentials as to his contributions to the sport, he would have been inducted into the ATA Hall of Fame years ago.

I often wonder IF the Selection committee overlooks some of the "obvious" CONTRIBUTORS to the sport. I do know HB has contributed to the THOF financially as much as he could but also contributes in ways behind the scenes. When a call comes into HB for assistance in finding information of any particular nature pertaining to the History of Trap Shooting, be it from the organizers of the THOF or the general public such as myself, History Buff is always more then willing to go all the way to secure answers to all the questions.

Case in point: When I secured this 1914 medal, I inquired as to who may have been the winner of this.

YES indeed, History Buff came up with the answer !

I talked to Daro at Vandalia when he was in a slump, I asked him to have his Blood Sugar chec ked, and if it was high I gave him some Information on the Drugs I was taking, and told him he needed to check it in the AM Before shooting, and take the Insulin &/or Metformin bring it down, and to control his blood sugar with the Proper Foods, and not to eat just before a shoot as he would get a sugar spike, and he said he had a sugar Problem and thanked me for my suggestions. I saw the ATA President and several BOD watching him shoot a handicvap and observing his target turn downs, and they said nothing to disrupt him, and they must have agreed with the slow pulls.

Neil Winston made a lot of decisions and suggestions to the ATA, and I personally did not agree with 99% of them, I felt they would damage the Sport Severely,some were narrower angles, Shorter distances, allowing faster Shells, in excess of the Traditional 3 dram 1200fps shells, You can now LEGALLY shoot a 1 1/8th Oz shell @1340fps, 1250 fps shell +/- 90 fps and still be legal. Believe me this is being Done.
