Is Shaeffer out of the HOF in the eyes of the HOF and or the ATA? He is the current holder of the long run I think.
Is this like donating to the Clinton foundation? There are some very close ties between the Kolar gun company and the accusers in this incident so it seems. Maybe justice is blind, but not in the right way. could the EC involvement have any thing to do with unbalanced out come?
Shaeffer could get in the good graces with the HOF Committee if only he could find a way to hide the air conditioner at the front of the HOF pole building.
My Gawd, You mean to tell me they didn't put the enclosure around that piece of crap yet ??? Somewhere I heard that was the intent... Lovely sight to see at the entrance. They at least could have put it on the back side of the building. Perhaps with Brad's permission, I will donate a huge picture of him to hide this A/C thing....LOL On second thought, I wouldn't do that to my friend Brad. Where were the architect and designer fees going ? This is hideous looking. Perhaps that is why they are seeking more donations ?
Sparta was a mistake from day one, and I doubt if it will ever be a good place for the average shooter. OK for the motor home shooters but a bit lacking for all others. Not enough planning before the move, or good advice was not taken, either way it looks like a looser for the shooters, and also for the state of ILL. It will take years for the ATA to recover from the demise of their membership. It will also require new leaders, men with vision and not self servers that seek profit from their tenure in the leadership roles. Roger C.
It wont matter now if Shaeffer fights the suspension. It wont matter if he wins a lawsuit. It doesn't matter that he has the long run record. I don't see him ever shooting an ATA target again. jmho
If I were David, I would not give up the shooting sport. I would not shoot registered targets. I would shift my sights to sporting clays. The Amature trapshooting Assoc. has lost it's place in the sport. They no longer are seen as the elite in the shooting game. There have been to many non improving changes to the venue, along with no enforcement of most rules pertaining to target presentation. The leaders have let the game erode down to a local level. Every club can set there own rules, or totally ignore them, their choice. That is the death knell for any organized sport. I will attend one more Grand that will make 40 years of attendance total. After that it will be local shoots only. Mostly to visit with old friends. My shoulder replacement surgery is progressing nicely. Should be ready to shoot at the Spring Grand next Feb. Looking forward to seeing some of you there. Roger C.
That building is nothing more then a glorified sheet metal building. Horrible design and cannot believe where AC unit was placed.
When I look at that place, I wonder if they ran out of money to finish the roof over the entrance, and enclose the AC unit also ?
The ATA ended up in Sparta, Illinois by default, they had no place else to go so basically so did the HOF (with the exception of Cardinal Center) being as things were stored in trailers or a trailer so Mr.Shaeffer may not give a damn if he gets in it or not ... The amount of people who would or will ever see it are limited based on the attendance figures so its not much of a big deal anymore ... Dave Shaeffer knows what he has accomplished and the accolades (?) of being put into a basic horse barn (though a nice horse barn) in the middle of no place may not be as important or appealing to him as getting screwed by and or for what ever reason, if by chance he did get screwed ... If I missed it to date there have only been bits and pieces of what culminated into him getting DQ'ed, so I apologize in advance if I missed anything beyond that ... I have been asked by a lot of has been ATA (members) shooters, what happens when the WSRC closes again for good next time then what happens with the HOF ..? I guess that would be anybody's guess or Sparta could advertise it as a draw for those who do not go there now ... Kind of like the Popeye Museum in St Louis but a lot farther off the beaten path but still something additional to see in and about Sparta, Ill if just out wondering around aimlessly ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
Bill, I remember reading somewhere that if the Sparta location was closed for good, the ATA would have 30 days to clear out the HOF building or the items would belong to the state. This probably also pertains to the other equipment that the ATA has on the property including the trap machines. Maybe H.B. could shed some light on the subject. Roger C.
