The Reserrection the New ATA

The new ATA is the OLD ATA LOCK STOCK AND BARRELL, This came to me in a dream last night, and it is possible, OUT with everything that is/was new, and in with the OLD.

23/4 DE 1145 Fps 1 1/8th #8s & 7 1/2s and 3 DE 1200fps shells, are the only legal shells allowed

Targets must be set at 50-52 yds w/44degree angles at 10.5 ft high at 10 yds.

At all Major shoots FORD PURSES are Mandatory. Cost is $5.00

Back-in with the 1960s rule Book in it's entirety.

NO ATA POINTS SYSTEM

To be an all American shooter, you must shoot your Home State & Zone shoots. All State Shoot winners Compete only at the Grand American in the Singles Championship, The Doubles Championship, and the Grand American Handicap.

ATA President is elected by the Membership and he /she must be a Life Member, The Board of Directors are elected in by the Membership for a 2 tear term in alternating years, There is no getting in line for a TRAPGUN, there is none to be GIVEN.

In with the Golden West Grand, The Missouri Fall Handicap, The Southern Grand, Trophies to be furnished by the CLUB holding that Shoot.

A shooter must shoot 500 targets of each Discipline to Qualify in a 3 year period.

A Big Step In Trapshooting, And a Grand Step for REAL Trapshooting.

Institution of a Proffessional Category, If a shooter puts on schools of Instruction, or employed by a Gun Manufacturer he shoots in Proffessional Class, Not elgible for any ATA monies/or Trophies.

Sometimes you are better off enjoying a dream in silence .....

Let me give you an example ..... I keep having a dream that the Victoria's Secret Angels take me on a private cruise ..... Just me and all them, all day and all night ..... They have their way with me, sometimes three and four at a time, then eat and drink and go at it again .....

When I wake up with a big smile on my face, my wife has to ask why ..... I tell her of my dream, and she laughs so hard it spoils the great mood I was in .....

FWIW ..... I think my dream has a much better chance of becoming real .....

 

The ATA does see that there is an existing problem, therefore they feel there is nothing to fix ... The attendance at the grand tells them nothing, the loss of members on an annual basis means nothing and is probably due to the economy, shell prices, gas prices, price of guns, cost of lunch,to cold or to hot , the wind, but there is nothing wrong internally with the ATA, according to the ATA and those in charge ... Then there are those who are driving members away on a daily basis because they hate the ATA and or Sparta, Illinois because its not in their back yard , not to mention it started before the relocation but has continued with a new and valid reason, location, location, location ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

 

"therefore they feel there is nothing to fix" ..... well, they know "fixing it", for the most part, would be giving up their "ATA" money tit, or doing the things that they were supposed to do for free .....

Asking the "ATA" to fix itself, would be like asking someone with a drug addiction to cure themselves without taking away the drugs .....

Not many things can "operate" like the "ATA" does ..... "Money for NOTHING" ..... 136k plus for 40 hours per week of doing what ????? for 40 HOURS PER WEEK, please show your "work" during "work hours" ..... those who receive travel pay, please inform the unwashed masses why "local" members are not good enough to "classify" people in places like Florida .....

What a "pipe-dream" to expect those addicted to money to "fix" themselves .....

You can not feed the head of the snake and expect the body to die .....

 

It just needs what the POSTER/MYSELF suggested to bring it Back Around, to what it once was, Do we need to change the Organization to make it happe?

Who cares what it was like in the 1960's. Let me clue all of you in on a little secret. It is 2016 and will soon be 2017. Fifty year old rules that are no longer in effect have nothing to do with anything.

If you don't like the ATA as it is set up the vote the people you like in. If you can't do that then maybe you are the ones out of touch.

 

I was at the Kentucky State Shoot when many made the trip to remove "Terry Dean". He, and he alone, declared himself the "winner".

At that same shoot, in the "Friday Sandbaggers Handicap" after "drawing for banks", they announced an "error" that had his "squad" shoot the "preferred bank", and moved our squad to BFE.

So, "If you don't like the ATA as it is set up the vote the people you like in.", is nothing but a sham. It seems to only matter to people when it happens to them .... so stick around, I am sure they will have no problem doing the same to you .....

I was also at the "Grand" in "Sparta" when "they" fired someone for standing up to "them". Some of those "fifty year old rules" gives "them" a protective wall that can not changed by "voting" .....

 

You miss the POINT! Don't like the way things are run then do what the Fine folks from Mississippi did. They got together and lobbied for a change and they were successful. They didn't sit around and complain and cry like a 2 year old not getting his way they exercised their Rights and got a rule changed. Just imagine what you all could do if you put all of your energy into making changes instead of crying about this and that.

Do something other than throwing a continuous hissy fit. Get together. Make a plan. Execute your plan.

"Saving" the current "ATA" is not something that "voting" can accomplish.

I have zero interest in "fighting" the current "ATA" ..... If I can help with something "new", so be it, and if not something "new", so be that also, life goes on .....

The way the ATA is structured, no body would have a chance to get in a position to get anything done to make changes in a major way, which is what is needed ... The ED is basically a Political appointment (Talking Head) who is protected by the EC and some of the BOD who give the EC free rein to push their agenda's through by having the vote locked up, be them good or bad ... Terry Dean could not and did not get re elected so he just claimed he won and was not stepping down to make way for the real winner, obviously the ATA stood still and let that happen (Every vote counts)... Terry even turned down a shoot off by the real winner to give him a second chance to keep the seat and have it validated at least in some small way even if not really ... If by chance you think everything is fine and dandy with the ATA, EC, and some of the BOD, then you are part of the problem living in a brown paper bag away from reality ... The attributed loss of attendance at the biggest shoot in the world ( grand American) should or has to tell you something , people just DO NOT CARE anymore ... The ATA has separated itself from the Membership not the other way around ... Think of it like a Poker game, if you sit down and do not see a "Fish " at the table that's because you are it and you will not have a fighting chance ... (Bad example, but an example none the less ) ... I do not and will not take the time to educate you on the ATA, don't know how long you have been a member but can see you have missed the point in many of the discussions that have taken place over the years ...
